BS TBM850 and sounds of the default Asobo TBM
-
After installing the wonderful BS TBM850 in MSFS 2024 I was astonished there was no sound…
So I enabled the default Asobo TBM, which I had previously disabled,
and the sounds came to the BS TBM850.
So obviously the BS TBM850 is using most of the sounds of the default Asobo TBM.
Now… Is there a way to disable the default Asobo TBM
and at the same time keep the sounds in the BS TBM850? -

@ac5 Message #7 in this topic.
@Zwoop68 Brilliant! I was going to investigate a solution later today, but that's exactly what would need to be done. Thanks for remembering that post!

@Black-Square catching this thread and noticing that you’re around… First of all, hats off once again for the unbeatable aircraft you’ve created — and my ongoing worship to the TBM 850 (800 hours so far, mostly hand-flown)!

Now that the professionals are out! (kudos again!) can we give another gentle nudge about Boris audio for the TBM 850? Can't wait to have this TBM truly perfected!
(Last personal note — really happy to see my humble suggestion regarding the hypoxia blinking actually implemented!) -
Hello all,
Thanks for the help, but I tried both suggestions, Message #7 and Message #9 listed in the suggested topic:https://community.justflight.com/topic/7288/testing-in-msfs2024
But there is just no way to Is there a way to keep disabled the pathetic default Asobo TBM
and at the same time keep the sounds in the BS TBM850..... As soon as I disable it, in order
not to appear among the serious airplanes, the sounds in the BS TBM850 disappear....@Black-Square I'd be grateful if you could integrate the sound in your wonderful
airplanes, in order not to depend for the sounds on the Asobo ones.... -

It's something that I will refuse to ever exit my tenure making aircraft without doing, just because I have a sense of perfectionism that cannot ignore it. As you can imagine, it takes many thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to locate the appropriate aircraft, travel to it, set up recording, processing the sounds, integrate them with all the systems, test and iterate, beta test, and push all the updates. I will not forget about the TBM, but I unfortunately have to prioritize my "Professional Series" for the time being, since they were rendered incompatible with MSFS 2024, and I want the previous users to have an even better experience in MSFS 2024.
In the meantime, I can assure you that there is no reason you shouldn't be able to copy the right files into your community folder and remove the default aircraft. If push comes to shove, I can create the package for you, and convey it via Just Flight Support.
Ah, I think I know why what you tried didn't work, though. Those instructions for porting the MSFS 2020 version of the TBM to MSFS 2024, but what you have is the 2024 version. If you want to give this a shot yourself, here is exactly what you would have to do.
-
Enable "Developer Mode" in the MSFS 2024 menu (Settings -> General -> Advanced Options).
-
Open the "Virtual File System" dialog from the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen.
-
Expand "VFS Projector", then click "Start", and then "Open in Explorer".
-
Navigate to
VFSProjection -> simobjects -> airplanes -> asobo_tbm930 -> common -> sound. -
Copy
asobo_tbm930.pc.pckto[Your Community Folder]\bksq-aircraft-tbm850\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_TBM930\common\sound\. -
This should just work, but you may have to rebuild
[Your Community Folder]\bksq-aircraft-tbm850\layout.jsonby dragging the file on top of the icon forMSFSLayoutGenerator.exe, which you can download here.
Please let me know how this goes for you, and I will always be happy to help!

Hi BlackSquare,
SUCCESS!
At last I could get read of that hated / arcade Asobo-TPM,and
at the same time keep the sound in your wonderful BS-TBM-850.And although the system you suggested did not work (See screenshot)
I just simply copied via windows explorer the file asobo_tbm930.pc.pck from my
D:\Xboxgames// to my Community Folder\bksq-aircraft-tbm850\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_TBM930\common\sound.
Then, as per your suggestion, I rebuilded my Community Folder \bksq-aircraft-tbm850\layout.json
by dragging the file on top of the icon for MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe.As mentioned, I'd be grateful if you could integrate the sound in your future wonderful airplanes,
in order not to depend for the sounds on the arcade Asobo ones....If it would not be for you, PMDG, Fenix and a couple of others, I would not even bother
to loose a minute in this arcade simulator….
Only the Asobo Cessna 172 classic and the Powerchute barely survive in my MSFS 2024,
all the other arcade airplanes have been mercilessly disabled….
Included a screenshot of my “fleet”. -

Hm, strange that you would get that error. Usually that only happens when you close MSFS with the file explorer still open. Anyway, I'm so glad it worked, and my instructions put you on the right path!
