Question about glass gauge reflections in cockpit.
-
Hello there. This goes under the category of pure curiosity, but I notice with the FS2020 version of the Starship that all CRT gauges in the cockpit are pleasingly shiny and have reflections whereas in the FS2024 version the CRTs are matte and more resemble LCD displays.
I'm guessing FS2024 textures don't support the same level of glass gauge reflection in the cockpit as does FS2020? No biggie at all, just wondering.
Thanks! Now I'm off to purchase the new Bonanza, lol. And let's face it, I'll be getting the Baron too next payday.

You know, you're the second person to mention this lately. The material properties are identical on my end, so Asobo must have changed something. I know that might come as a shock to many.

@Black-Square Hi Nick. LOL, poor guy makes an aircraft that takes years to develop with 10,000 clickable switches and an insane level of system depth, then someone on here wants to know if their cockpit gauges should be more shiny.
I'm thinking the situation is normal and relative to each individual sim, be it FS2020 or FS2024. FS2020 CRTs just look shinier for whatever reason. In FS2024, my Starship CRTs look EXACTLY like the ones in this video in which you are narrating whilst an airline pilot is flying the aircraft in FS2024: Youtube video
For the record, I love having fingerprints and smudges on the displays because it enhances the realistic look to me personally.
I'm also convinced Asobo could effectively F up a trainwreck by making a SU for it.

This is my Starship is 2024 beta:

It resembles the aftermath of a murder scene once forensics have been in dusting for prints. I love flying the Starship - but tend to only fly at night now as that solves the glass issue. Very unpleasant to look at during the day, which is a real pity as Starship is such a brilliant plane to fly.
Have no idea if this is a temporary thing, or something only present in the beta.
I have a frustrating issue with dynamic registrations not working correctly in the beta - thought it was caused by the beta, but seemingly SU4 beta should have fixed the dynamic registration issue. So completely confused as to what needs fixing and when it might get fixed.

@AlphaEcho I'm also using FS2024/SU4 Beta, but not seeing those reflections in the sim with the latest 1.20 update. Keep in mind that no developer can support the beta versions of FS2024 due to the constant ebb the flow of changes Asobo makes. HOWEVER, in the past I experimented with importing the FS2020 Starship version into a FS2024/SU3 official installation, and I got those exact same reflections in your screenshot under that circumstance. I think what you're seeing here is somehow a FS2020 version of the Starship trying to display textures in FS2024.
I would suggest a complete reinstall to make super-sure you are running the FS2024 version in FS2024.
Using the 1.20 installer with FS2024, my CRT gauges look exactly like everyone else's (on Youtube) anyway. Just not as reflective as in FS2020 but certainly not with the film sheen appearance you are currently seeing.

@AlphaEcho This means that you are using the MSFS 2020 Starship in MSFS 2024, I presume from the marketplace. This is another good example of something Asobo changed without telling us between the two simulators.

Hi. Thanks, OK - so I can look forward to daytime flights once an updated Starship arrives in 2024?
I have bought way too many planes and to be honest am completely lost around what should work and when. I am on Xbox so all purchases have been through MP.
I get a tad confused - Starship for me in 2024 does not have a “2020” label, others do. I seem to recall whatever version I have of Starship just appeared in my 2024 collection without any input from me. I assumed the weird instrument glass issue I have was something that shouldn’t exist - but seems I just need to wait for an update.
Regards.
