Sound levels in 2024 - headphone simulation.
-
Is 2024 doing some form of automatic sound levelling? If you switch on headphone simulation then turn it off later, the sound of the engines come back loud and then backs down to a quieter level - not quite as quiet as the headphone simulation but not far off.
In 2020, this issue does not happen. Anyone else seeing this behaviour? -

Yes, in the menu there is an option for volume limiting (or similar). That is likely causing the changing volume that you've experienced. I can't remember exactly where it is without the sim running but shouldn't be too hard to find.
Having finally found the time for a flight in the Duke, first time in v1.2, I like the headphone simulation but I now have two new 'wishes' for this feature:
- If possible, allow us to balance the sound levels between inside/outside (perhaps a tablet option). With headphones on, there's such a huge difference between internal and external audio now that it's almost scary to switch to an external view for a few screenshots!
- The headphone simulations reduces the volume but doesn't seem to change the balance or tone of the sound in any way. This may be a limitation of the sim, but feels like it could be done slightly better (don't mean to sound ungrateful, as I love the new update and that we have the feature at all!).

Thanks @Mustang It was the Loudness Limit option in MSFS2024. Turned that off and all sounding much better now.
@Donka I'm glad I could help. I noticed some strange effects with volumes varying during my occasional uses of 2024, and was surprised to find this option lurking in the menus.
It's not a bad idea to include such a feature, but didn't like that it was enabled by default.
