How exactly do you use IAS (FLC) on the TBM?

    Normally there is a dial that allows me to set the speed. I have tried everything I can think of the up/down switch I cannot understand how it works. Perhaps its not the way I think it is?

      @dopher when you first press the IAS button it will latch to your current speed, and then if you press the UP button it will increase your target airspeed and if you press DN it will lower your target airspeed (I’m not in front of computer but I’m 99% sure that’s how it worked when I used it a few days ago). The increments are pretty small so usually you’ll want to hold it for a few seconds or press it several times. You should see an effect after pressing a few times or holding a few times. There isn’t an indicator that shows the target speed so it can be hard to gauge what it’s doing sometimes.

        @Iconography Thank you. Its a bit different I guess from where you can set the speed ahead of time. The other issue that I cant see where the IAS is at. for example lets say I was cliaming at 120 KIAS and the I press the IAS button. I want to see somewhere that my speed is 120 KIAS and that if I press the UP it chages to 125 or 130 whatever. But as you mentioned its not shown so it might be difficult to figure out.

          What @Iconography said is correct. The steps are +-1 knot and the initial speed is what was indicated when you pushed IAS.

          I usually trim the plane around where I want the speed to be myself, then push IAS, and count the times I push Up or Down if I want to modify it.

            I only use it in climb. When airspeed reaches around 150 knot, I activate IAS, and it keeps it from getting any lower in the climb, by reducing the pitch, that way your airspeed never gets too low.
