Just curious if there is an easy way to remove fingerprints from the screens? I like the dust particles, but I would be cleaning the fingerprints if I owned the plane. 🙂

Although I have not seen this discussed recently, it would be very easy to create a free mod for any of my aircraft to remove all glass dirt and fingerprints, or even replace them with whatever you like. I could supply my original material without the fingerprints, if you liked. I just hesitate to create downloadable modifications for my own aircraft, because future “bug reports” are so often caused by well intentioned, incompatible mods. Perhaps someone here familiar with the process will take up the charge.

There is a 2020 mod by GamingCat on fsto that cleans the carpet and adjusts the autopilot labels. He has in the past been rather particular about removing dirt and smudges and such from other aircraft. Removing fingerprints would be right up his alley and would dovetail nicely with his existing mod. No 2024 support yet though.

Whatever texture layer is displaying the fingerprints also has a nasty jittering to it as well when viewed with sunlight on it.

@Black-Square - Thanks Nick for the quick reply. Is it easy as swapping the files or more to it?

Also, I was on the fence on the Starship. I wasn't sure if I could get into the look and feel of it, but it has grown on me. You have done a phenomenal job and it is much appreciated for someone like me that enjoys knowing how things work behind the systems and it is all simulated and mapped out like the real thing. Thank you. Looking forward to adding more of your products to the hanger. Cheers!

Yes, it’s as simple as replacing a single file. It has the words “gauge glass” in the name. Sorry, I’m not at my desk right now. If you can create a blank or modified .dds (2020) or .kxt2 (2024) file, you could just drop the file in the aircraft’s texture folder for yourself. The more “correct” way to do this in MSFS is to create a mod, which is loaded in your community folder. If you’ve never done this before, it can be a little tedious to set up, but for anyone familiar with the process, it will only take a couple minutes.
