Reverse thrust does not seem to work right after engine start

In MSFS2024, if I start cold and dark after the engines are started and chocks removed, parking brake and toe brake released, setting full reverse thrust does not move the plane. However, after taking off and landing again the reverse thrust is working as it should (plane strats moving backwards from standstill when reverse thrust is applied).

This is very likely the same bug as in MSFS 2020. Reverse thrust on the ground has almost never worked right, and even the slightest terrain imperfection can stop you from moving with it.
While I haven't tried it in the Starship, the PMDG DC-6 is one of my favorite aircraft and it's suffered with that issue since launch.

Hm. I routinely use reverse thrust to back out of a parking space (sparing the ground crew, for once) immediately after startup, so this is not a universal problem. I've never seen it before in MSFS, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. I'll keep my eyes out for it, but I'm not sure there will be anything I can do about it if jmarkows is right.

I just tested it after starting up on my third flight of the day. I was able to back up without issue. This was three flights without exiting the sim or back to the menu.
I have not had the issue in every spot I've loaded into the DC-6, but it has been a fair few of them. I've never tried doing multiple flights in a row with it before, at least not while trying to reverse out of a spot.
I will see if I can dig up the old PMDG forum post about it to see if that looks like your issue.
Perhaps a silly question, but you don't have the props feathered while trying this, right?

Here we go, I went digging and came up with both the topic I was thinking of and perhaps a chestnut for Nick if it looks to still be an issue.
Gradients around parking spaces may be an issue, but someone in the second post discovered that MSFS has a maximum backwards velocity at which point the engines will cease producing thrust, so if you have a tailwind you're basically SOL.
I was pointed perpendicular to the wind when I performed my test just now.

Fascinating. I have found that prop_reverse_max_vel is not respected with all engine model configurations in 2020 and 2024, but I didn't know that it factored in the apparent wind.

when playing with the reverse thrust and the wind, my button had a little hickup and my RPM of the Props went up really far. I tried to reproduce it like you can see here. It's not a major issue, as you should not be doing that anyway, but I thought you probably would want to know.So for maximum Power and toggeling reverse thrust when ITT and torque builds up, makes the props spin really fast. It would not happen for lower power settings.

I just loaded onto a runway for a quick test in MSFS24, and once you have about a 10kt tailwind, reverse stops working.
@jmarkows Yes, it was the wind, nothing to do with engine starts (as I thought previously). It seems you are right and if the wind is from the tail and like around 10kt the plane will not move. I am not sure if this is how the real plane would work, but it would be nice to allow reversers to move the plane up until like 20kt tailwind.
