    First off - this is an amazing add on!

    Just had a question about v/s mode. I've been using this regularly with descent to match recommended RNAV descent indications but have noticed that adjusting the v/s while engaged seems to pitch the aircraft someone abruptly, quite a jolt.

    Just curious is this is actual aircraft behaviour? Usually I would expect a bit of latency when adjusting v/s although I realise this is more reactive on smaller aircraft.

    Apart from that - absolutely fantastic experience.

          Totally agree, this comes up every few days!

          I really love the Starships, but the autopilot is quite aggressive, especially in V/S mode (though not only there). It can take away from the chill vibe a bit.

          That said, itโ€™s been explained that smoothing this out isnโ€™t so easy to do, so I totally get it. Still, if it ever becomes possible to refine it would make an already awesome experience even better!

            Another unfortunate effect of this aggressive control, is that descend mode becomes quite the "bumpy" experience.
            Every time the speed bug moves up a few knots, the AP rapidly pitches down to match, increasing VS by something like 1000 FPM. Then of course it has to slow down the descend again to not blow past the speed and it goes back towards the original descend rate, until it takes the next "step" and the cycle starts over.

              For this reason I stick with IAS mode only.

                If I understand correctly, this is the authentic Starship experience.

                The target airspeed jumps by two knots in that mode, because that is how the real aircraft works ๐Ÿ™‚ I asked one of the owners while sitting in the cockpit about this, and he described it as a "staircase" with the airplane noticeably popping up and down at each speed change. For this reason, he prefers to use pitch mode for smoothness. I still prefer IASP in the simulator, since I can't feel the bumps, but that's your call!

                  Another way to descend is in VS mode, its quite the smooth ride.
                  I use the vnav page to get my vertical speed required to arrive at a given waypoint.
                  I then adjust the power levers on the way down to maintain whatever airspeed I desire.

                    @ploodovic Not too surprised that it can be a bit of a rocky experience IRL as well. Still, I think that it is the case that a case of a quirky system IRL having its deficiencies further amplified by the aggressive autopilot pitching.

                    For now I am also using VS mode (which, as people note in this thread, is also too aggressive), but I enjoy trying to make it as smooth of a ride as possible for the passengers. Also Air Hauler passengers start complaining when going to 0.7 G, which helps highlight things like this.
