You don't say... I'll have to try it. Do you have to tune in specific frequencies like 6577 or 8825, et cetera? Or do we just have a noise floor when COM is active? Would be kinda hard to replicate something so dynamic such as HF. I'll check it out later tonight. I don't really do any ham radio anymore, but I still like to listen occasionally.

Hearing a lot of old numbers stations on various bands including old DDR stations. SSTV, CW numbers, digital modes as well. Fun tuning the HF frequencies.

That's pretty cool. I have always thought that would be a neat idea but didn't think any developer would bother trying to implement it.

@dadgametime That's a good way of putting it. I didn't think much of the second floppy when I first saw it.

Wait, what does the second floppy have to do with finding stations? I guess I'll have to play around some more. I was really stoked when I tuned in some stations on tonight's flight!
I gotta say, Nick has really outdone himself with this feature. I kinda think a product I had years ago had HF static, but nothing like this. It is an amazing feature and really cool to a ham radio/scanner user like myself for 35 years.

A friend of mine has found the second floppy, but I still haven't. Where is it?
Also, once you insert a floppy, how do you get it back out? I can eject it, but I can't find a spot to click to take it out and store it.
@jmarkows Just click on the disk not in the floppy drive, and it will swap the disks automatically. Note that the "other" disk (not the nave data one) returns to its original spot when you swap it, so just go there to retrieve it when you want to put it in the drive again.

I played with it a bit but didn't look too much into its operation.
It would be insanely cool if someone had found a way to tie it to a SDR receiver and let us scan the airwaves with it! lol

We have to be careful what we ask for. I'm seeing a lot of requests and for a code to fetch the time at each minute, thus report that time like WWV, it would use unnecessary resources, imo. 2024 already uses a lot of computer to run. I find the world clock pretty annoying to listen to. Replaying sound files, such as we have here is one thing, adding dynamically updated content is an entirely different animal.

WWV is fun to listen too, especially when you also pick up other stations like WWVH with a bit of delay and the different voices announcing the time. WWV in Colorado and WWVH in Hawaii etc

I just think anything dynamic like that would be too resource heavy and not an effective use of code. I do think it would be cool to hear prerecorded aviation SELCAL tones and reports, but they would have to be long enough to play without just repeating. Say one recording, as you dial 8864, plays a couple aircraft reporting positions and confirming SELCALs, but reverts to noise and doesn't play again unless you tune off the frequency several KCs or something.
