Anything can fail on a Black Square aircraft. We know this, but I wasn't expecting a failure on my first flight. But there I was, just off the runway with a failed #1 prop govenor. No worries, I've got the fancy checklist to shut the engine down. Get it feathered and secured...and then the cockpit goes blank. Reset the #2 gen, it comes back online, but at over 100% load, so it trips off again a few seconds later. Kill the lights, the anti-ice, and the copilot instruments and that got me into a stable config at around 80% generator load.

The manual just makes note to 'monitor' the load, but is there any official guide to what loads to shed with an engine or generator inoperative?

Side note, the autopilot remained engaged even with both generators offline, seems like a possible bug.

Fun stuff! At least I hope it was for you. With how rare failures are when operating at the 1x multiplier, I always enjoy a minor failure when they occur. I wonder if you could have caught that failure with a proper runup. Of course, you can always disable failures completely, if this is not to your liking.

I'm not aware of any guidance on which systems to take offline when the checklist calls for "reduced load"; however, if you got really flustered, you could manually open the generator ties. This would ensure that the remaining generator stays within limits by dropping all the loads on the inoperative generator's bus.

The autopilot remained engaged for not quite the reason you would expect, but I have fixed that now. Thank you!
