Radar Power Draw

I forgot exactly what caused me to run down this line of thinking, but while flying the piston Duke over the weekend, I had the idea to check if the radar draw is noticeable on the ammeters.
I did see a noticeable jump in draw when the radar goes from off to standby, as expected, but I did not see another increase going from standby to fully on.
I would have expected when the transmitter went live to see another spike in power consumption. While not familiar with how aircraft weather radars are wired up, I work in an adjacent field, and most radars are not exactly low power affairs (which might have been the thought that got me here).
Given @Black-Square penchant for the technically accurate finishing touches, is this what would be reasonably expected? Is the transmitter actually hot on startup and the output piped to something other than the antenna, or should we see an increased load when it's set from standby to on?

You're absolutely correct, and I appear to have added this in the latest build on my end. I think I noticed that it was missing while programming Starship. Thanks for telling me, though! There are surely more things that I've missed across my fleet, and I may never know if you don't tell me!
