I just purchased the Analog King Air overhaul and tried to get ground services with just the battery switch on, the comm window opens and says I can't communicate with out power, but I do have battery power on, I switched to the default King Air turned on just the battery and opened the comm window which allowed me to tune to ground services, so I now know that it is a glitch with the Analog King Air, has anyone else had this problem and is there something I can do to fix this? Bob

Because you didn't mention this... did you make sure the radios are on as well? It's possible the default King Air has them on by default but the Black Square has them off. I don't know if this is the case, just an idea since you didn't mention the state of the radios.

Yes, radio was on, can start with just the battery but just wanted everything to work, finding other issues also, interior flood lights and lighting on overhead panel not working, just that lite that comes on without the battery, aircraft shuts down on its own after several minutes for no apparent reason, I had high expectations after reading the reviews, should I be sorry I purchased this? I feel like it.

No, don't be sorry, it's a great plane! Actually my favorite of the Black Square line.

You're on 2020, right? It won't work right with the native 2024 King Air, but there is a workaround. But assuming you're in 2020, have you tried reinstalling? If you're in 2020 and you've tried reinstalling, I would contact Just Flight customer support. If you're in 2024 you need to install the 2020 default Asobo King Air in your 2024 Community folder in order for the Black Square to work properly. It's not officially compatible, but it works.

Assuming you're on MSFS 2020, and everything is installed correctly, I think all of your remarks can be attributed to the complexity of the aircraft. Are you familiar with the triple-fed bus system, and turboprop engine limitations?

There are many configuration issues that could cause what you're seeing. For instance, many of the aircraft lights will not work unless the left and right generator buses are online. You will also have to disengage the starters manually for the starter-generators to produce power (usually what closes those bus ties). If it's just the electronics that shut down after several minutes, that comports with the generators not being online too, since the battery will eventually give out, or overheat. If it's the engines that shut down after a few minutes, you are probably exceeding the engine's torque or ITT limits.

Long story short: The current version of the Analog King Air has been in the hands of thousands of happy users for a couple years now, so these are almost certainly not bugs. There could be an installation issue, or an incompatible freeware addon, but most likely it's just the learning curve required for one of the most complex general aviation aircraft in service.

If you continue to have questions, I am always here to help! Feel free to share any videos or screenshots of your situation too. Helping people learn complex systems is my favorite part of creating these aircraft, so I'm always to take a look.

I thanks all you guys for your good advice, I have the msfs2020 version, much of what I did was comparisons with the King Air 350i, I would switch over and use that as a comparison, I assumed the systems were similar except for the analog gauges, also was going by the checklist provided, I will take a second look and spend more in depth time with the manual learning the proper procedure as opposed to relying on the checklist , and Black Square advice about buses and ensure the system distribution is supplying the appropriate bus, I am new to this but will consider the learning curve going forward. Thanks again all.

Update: All problems solved, To get ground services I was thinking ground comm sys was separate from instrument panel comm sys and only the battery switch was needed to speak to the people on the ground, but the avionics master switch need to be on, so it works just fine, I was also placing the gen switch to the on position with out resetting it first and that solves the flood light issue, I may have caused a hot start by not allowing the ITT to reach 20% which could explain the engines shutting down, and finally I was advancing both condition levers as a pair instead of individual, so, this solves all the issues I faced, operator error, and no fault with this King Air Overhaul, this King Air Simulator is the real deal.

Glad to hear it! Thanks for reporting back. I'm always here if you have more questions.

Indeed, this is a common problem I have with my Steam Gauge Overhaul fleet, because it seems the average user is completely unaware of just how lacking the default aircraft's systems are compared to the real world.

Yes, thanks again to you guys, RPGGamerous and Black Square Dev, you guys have been most helpful, and so I got right to it and now things are back on track, I didn't waste no time because I wanted to get to the bottom of all this as the King Air is my all time favorite Turbo Prop, and yes, this Analog King Air realism is not lacking in the cockpit like the default Aircraft, there has been an extraordinary amount of attention to detail placed on this add-on so I don't anticipate any future issues as its pretty solid but I appreciate the offer of help if needed, you can never know for sure.
