KLN 90B as an actual hardware device
-
The Dukes offers the use of the KLN 90B which is a great GPS (without touch controls and a color moving map). I feel in love with the KLN 90B in the Aerosoft Catalina for FSX way back in the day. There was just something about learning how to use it and simming old school using it. The head unit is basically two dual knobs, two cursor buttons, five buttons and a screen. I really wanted a hardware controller to use. Enter the RealSim Gear GNS430 which has all that. The two dual knobs, the five buttons along the bottom and a screen with both left and right knobs having a cursor push button on the knobs instead of an actual button. So I talked with RealSim Gear and the developer of the freeware KLN 90B to see if I could make these two work. It can and it does!
So I ordered the 430, had to buy (lease, because, you know, software) Spad.Next and heres the outcome. I am happy to have this addition into my simpit, which when I am not using this as 90B can use it as intended as a 430 and when combined with my GTN750 from RealSim Gear gives me 3 different GPS head units to pick from.
I'll be making a how to video on what I needed to do to get this working if anyone is interested.
