Has this product been abandoned?
-
I recently purchased the warrior only to find the AP is complete junk and there has been no activity for at least a year in this regard
Its a lovely product - I do hope this can be resolved
-
Also why does the AP constantly state TERM - I cant find any reference in the manual - does this mean guidance terminated - is this the cause of my issue - if so what am I doing wrong?

The Just Flight PA28s have gotten loads of updates since release and as far as I can tell they are all currently in great working order. What do you mean the AP is complete junk? Are you having a specific problem with it? Where are you seeing TERM? As far as I can tell there is no TERM indication on that AP.

No Just Flight product is ever abandoned, as we provide updates to all of our products once there is a worthwhile update to make to them. For instance, we currently have flight model updates in testing for each of the PA28 variants, and once we have approved those for release, we will be releasing them in an update to each of the PA28s which will also include fixes for any bugs that have been reported since the previous update.
If you could kindly get in touch with Just Flight support via the following link, and provide as many details as possible, such as what GPS unit was selected at the time, screenshots/videos of the issues, and any steps we could follow to reproduce the issue, our support team will be able to assist with troubleshooting this: https://www.justflight.com/support

Just wanted to add my support to this, just in case it helps the PA-28s move up in the patch order π
As of SU15 the Warrior is still great and fun to fly, the only things I've noticed are the AP (using the WT530/430) has a nuisance bug where engaging the AP will hold the pitch until the hidden Alt Hold feature is turned on and then off, and the released flight model could use a little love in crosswinds after some previous SU. I own the Arrows, as well; it's been a fair bit longer since I've flown them, but I would imagine they're in similar shape.
If by the AP stating TERM you mean the GPS, that would heavily depend on what you're doing at the time and/or what you've configured it to do. It will say TERM when running an RNAV approach, for instance, though I'm no expert on it that can tell you exactly what that entails.

Each of the GPS units that are selectable on the EFB has its own autopilot logic that tries to overwrite our autopilot logic, so unfortunately, I think this is just a quirk of the Working Title GNS430/530.
One way you can tell if this is the case is if you select the "NO GPS" option on the EFB, and then see if you see different behaviour. With "NO GPS" selected, the autopilot is using our logic and all the modes will act as we intended them to. With any of the other GPSs selected, the autopilot is using logic from the GPS.
With regards to the flight model, we do have some updated flight models in development to improve the crosswind behaviour. Once we are happy with the updated flight models, will be releasing updates to all the PA28s.

We have an update to the Warrior's flight model currently in testing to address some feedback received from the community and we will review the Arrow, Turbo Arrow and Warrior again once MSFS 2024 has been released.
We can't really comment on any 2024 features at the moment as we have not yet been given any access to MSFS 2024 or the SDK to be able to access the amount of work that will be required to add those features, but it is certainly something we are very keen on investigating once we get access to the new simulator. We'll be sure to let everyone know our intentions once we know more ourselves.

Apologies, I misunderstood the question. The upcoming Warrior update does add the new ground dynamics/soft body dynamics/improved suspension. I will need to check with our flight model developer though regarding any changes to the propeller system/CFD.

@DeeKay Thank you for the feedback! Yes, the Arrow and Turbo Arrow will receive similar updates. The current plan is to analyse the feedback received on the Warrior's flight model before then working on the same improvements to the Arrow and Turbo Arrow.

I agree. Thank you JustFlight team! This update is a massive improvement. The stall and slow speed characteristics I would say are now far more true to life. Also the pitch up effect when deploying the flaps - this is nicely captured, most small GA planes I've flown in the sim incorrectly model this as a pitch down so this was really great!
If I were to nitpick the only comments I would make are that the climb performance seems a bit optimistic still - don't think I've ever seen more than +1000fpm even flying solo - 6-800fpm is more like it, these birds are not powerful. Cruise speed and power settings seem absolutely spot on though.
And the ground run on takeoff doesn't require right rudder which it does in the real aircraft. After lift off though the ball does slip out to the right requiring right rudder, which is correct.
