Analog Caravan Fuel Select Off (Problem)
-
Release notes for latest version of BKSQ Analog Caravan:
"The fuel selector warning annunciator and alarm now sound under three conditions: when both fuel selectors are in the off position, or the fuel cut-off handle is pulled; when either fuel selector is in the off position and the starter is engaged; and when only one fuel selector is on, and the selected tank contains less than approximately 25 US gallons. The warning alarm can still be disabled by pulling the fuel selector warning circuit breaker, but the annunciator will still illuminate normally. The system can be fully disabled by pulling both the fuel selector warning circuit breaker and the starter controller circuit breaker. The red “FUEL SELECT OFF” annunciator will remain continuously illuminated to indicate that the system has been disabled, but no alarm will sound."
I pull the fuel selector warning circuit breaker to disable the alarm so that I can leave the selectors and the fuel shutoff valve (on pedestal) both OFF when turning the BATT and AVIONICS 1 on to listen to ATIS and request IFR clearance before starting the engine. When I push the circuit breaker back in and open all the valves (the fuel shutoff valve on the pedestal and both tank selectors overhead), the Fuel Select Off annunciator remains on and I cannot start the engine. Its like it got stuck in a state and cannot get out. Obviously I don't want to re-install the plane to fix it. Help??

I haven't done anything in that aircraft that automates the control of the various fuel control valves, so if they are truly misbehaving (as opposed to an annunciator problem), then it's most likely caused my a hardware control binding issue. Does the fuel selector alarm stop sounding when you push the circuit breaker back in? That should indicate that all the valves are properly positioned for fuel flow. If you could send a video of the whole situation, that would be ideal for me to diagnose the problem. If not, you can also screenshare with Just Flight Support. They have been helping my users with the Caravan for over two years now, so they might have seen your problem before. Lastly, it's possible that the Caravan Improvement Mod for the default Caravan is interfering somehow. I haven't heard of this in the past, but it's still probably not a bad idea to remove it from your community folder to eliminate that as a possible source of the error, if you have it installed. Let me know what I can do to help from here!

OK I'm quite sorry to have wasted your time, the entire issue had to do with not having the Avionics 1 switch ON during startup. The Fuel Select Off annunciator will remain ON with BATT ON but Avionics 1 OFF, no matter what state the fuel valves are in, and this is normal real-world Caravan behavior I believe, though I'm not sure why. My inability to startup earlier, I'm just gonna chock up to being distracted and confused, and nothing at all to do with the aircraft. Everything regarding the Fuel Select Off audio alarm, its associated circuit breaker, and the alarm behavior with fuel valves open or closed when BATT in ON, is all normal and working as it should. Again my apologies for wasting your time, next time I will be more careful before starting a new forum thread and clogging things up in the forums.

No worries! I appreciate the response, but the most important part to me is that you can now enjoy flying my aircraft. Blue skies!

@Black-Square I've learned a great deal about aviation generally by way of flying your Caravan from Florida all the all over to Scotland where I am now in FSEconomy, I look forward to any future updates/fixes/improvements forthcoming for this aircraft. Even with SU15 and all your various suggested workarounds in previous threads, there still seem to be a few minor AP gremlins: AP screen remains lit when powered off(intended behavior?), some issues with under or overshooting altitudes, but nothing major. That's really the only thing I can think to complain about, and as I said its minor, not game-breaking. Seems to be something about the interaction between the PMS50 GTN750, the WT "layer"(do I even need the Marketplace WT thing now?), and the KAP140 code of the sim itself.
