Hi there. I usually don't enable failures when I fly any aircraft, but I wanted to start.

So I set all the failures for the TBM850 to On in the Failures section of the aircraft selection screen.

But I can't then start the TBM engine. I'm following the checklist exactly, and I can get it to crank on the starter. But when I go to low idle above 13%, the engine never lights.

I've tried it with the Ignition set to Auto and On.

      Top of my head suggestions:

      • double-check that you have no active failures in the "active failures" sub-menu...
      • Make sure you have positive fuel flow in the gauge, assuming you confirmed - Fuel pump is ON and that the fuel-selector is not in OFF (pulled position).
      • Mixture axis assignment issues? prevents entering the low-idle position
      • Make sure that the fuel truck filled you up with JET-A :)

do you have "chip"on the annunciator panel lighting ? if yes it means at some point you broke the engine and it has too much chips in. you will have to go in weather radar, to repair & restore engine , and maybe reset all active faillures in order to remove those chips

faillure must be managed from weather radar UI I m not sure they can be triggered with the base sim menu

It's strange that the issue only happens when failures are enabled. If I can damage the engine with failures disabled in the aircraft selection, then when do failures occur?

does faillure in assistance menu is "on" ?

              from manual
"NOTE: The “Engine Stress Failure” option must be enabled in the MSFS Assistance menu for
              the engine to fail completely"
mean if failure is disable in assistance menu the engine wont fail completly.

(my asstistance setting, sorry it s in french)

again since failures events use other events than the base sim one thought, and must be triggered by custom code, I m not sure the base failure system will help you in any way.

faillure can be scheduled or random depending how you set it in the weather radar sub menus, then you can also set Y/N 1min to 480 min for each faillure

              (when clicking on detailed setting)

I recommend the reading of the "Failure Configuration & System Status" section of the manual

You don't mean this menu, do you?

@Black-Square yes, that's the screen I'm talking about.

All failures are On, but not armed

Ah, there's your problem. Just don't touch that screen! Those failures have absolutely nothing to do with any of my products, and you should never have to visit it.

All failures in my aircraft are managed and triggered from the weather radar display (this will be moving over to a tablet with the Dukes). There are lists of all the possible failures and tutorials for the weather radar interface in the manuals.
