TBM 850 Model - Wing Thickness?
-
Maybe this is an issue and maybe it's correct and/or an optical illusion but the BS TBM850 seems to have a noticeably thicker wing than the Asobo TBM930.
I wasn't aware of any structural wing differences in the different TBM models. This apparent difference was noted by others on AVSIM in a recent forum topic and others thought the BS model wing thickness was over-sized.
On a related note, are there any plans to add wing-flex animations? I've never noticed any and assume it isn't modeled. I assume this wing won't flex a lot but I can't imagine it's absolutely rigid either.

Funny you should mention wing flex. I just took a day to add it to the Dukes this week, and I do plan on bringing that back to the TBM. I think the effect looks great, and really makes the airframe come alive. As for the wing thickness, all I can say is that I use reference imagery and schematics for all my aircraft. I will take a look again now, after the fact, but it tends to be a little late to change these things once the model and materials are already complete. Just trying to set expectations.
Thanks for the comments. It's funny, someone always seems to request my latest features, just as I'm working on them.

Hmm... looks a bit like they are thicker:
If the radar pod is correctly sized it could be good reference. It's has twice the diameter than the wing thickness in real life. In the sim, it's more like 100/75 ratio.
But if you ask me 😉 I like the thicker wings better.

That is superb to hear. Wingflex does make your aircraft feel more alive, reactive and immersive. I really wish more developers would add this to their aircraft.
Looking forward to the update (especially for the 850) :)

Airliners.net has some good head-on pics of lots of TBM planes for reference.
Glad to hear about all the wing-flex being added, does add immensely to the feeling of inertia and real flight. Looking forward to the Dukes. :-)

I just purchased the TBM and really enjoy it! it's amazing, However the wings do seem much thinker, especially the ice boots, any chance this will be looked at?

LOL... Look closely at the image of the real 850. There is still wing under and above the boots, it's just that it's white and blends in with the background. It's an optical illusion that the wings on the BS 850 is twice the size. The boots might be covering more of the leading edge, but that's it.
