There is probably an obvious answer to this that I don't see , when I disconnect the autopilot , whether it is via yoke , keyboard "Z" or mapped button on joystick , to hand fly a ILS approach with the aid of the flight director , not only does the the autopilot disengage but so do the autopilot modes , APR mode if doing an ILS approach .

Just did an ILS and AP modes stayed on.

If you're using the PMS GTN750 make sure you have the WTT package installed to make use of the new autopilot model that will actually control the mode selection.

I'm using the pms gns750 and have the WTT 530 installed from the market place . I may re-install the WTT 530 , see if that corrects the problem . I think it may have started with the last MSFS 2020 update ... who knows ...

FYI , when I selected the 530 on COM1 the problem when away . When I re-selected the 750 the problem came back . Reinstalled the PMS50 and it seems to have corrected the problem .

No you need the WTT package from the PMS website. That does enable the better AP
