Bonanza: engine condition tricking or buggy?
-
Perhaps someone can help or explain me the following:
I am not sure if it is a bug but it seems to me that the engine contition is not working correctly. Each slight movement in vertical direction (nose up, pull stick) leads to a massive reduction of the engine condition of 1% per second. Even with only 1.5G force to the plane. If I make a lateral turn along the horizont line, I can pull up to 4G witout loosing condition. As soon the plane moves vertical upwards (even only some degrees while turning) the condition drops again.
This is really strange and I cannot explain it to me. Every landing, start, vertical pitch change or even turbulences can affect the engine condition more seriousely than an engine mismanagement. That don't seems realistic to me.
Is it a bug in the mod or is it perhaps a hidden "wrong" configuration I have or do I just fly the plane in a wrong way?
I'd like to keep this addon because it's really good. But I feel tricked by this behaviour to generate engine wearout in an affordable time to "take advantage" of the failure system.
Perhaps someone can try to reproduce this or can explain the correlation or cause for this behaviour.
Regards Patrick.

@sycorax Patrick, here's a reply direct from the developer for you...
I looked into this, and you are absolutely correct. This is a side effect of the cylinder cooling effect due to nacelle pitch. I've already fixed this for the Baron's initial release, and I will include the fix in an update for the Bonanza soon. Here is the changelog note that will be added. As usual, if you would like a fix for this immediately, contact support, and I can supply a single file patch. Thank you for pointing it out!
"Cylinder temperature aircraft pitch effect smoothed. This will reduce the apparent rate of cylinder cooling due to aircraft pitch changes, which could sometimes manifest in engine damage during abrupt pitch inputs."
Hope that helps.

@voice-of-reason Hi and thanks for your response.
I am really happy that it is a bug and that you will/have fix/ed it.
I would not like to refund this excellent addon. Thanks also for your offer for a single file patch for this. I already made a ticket to the support.
Best regards,
Patrick.
