Bonanza Engine Condition Question
-
Does the engine condition stay at 100% if you fly it correctly or will it degrade slowly from normal use?
I am currently at 98% but I do fly it at max power almost all of the time (rpm at 2500).
Curious if someone with more patience than me who flies it more "gently" sees 100% all the time.Also, is there anyway to see why the engine condition is decreasing?
Really enjoying the plane.

The aircraft does not accumulate wear while being operated normally. From what I've seen in people's videos online, the most likely cause of degradation that quickly is accidentally keeping the starter engaged once the RPM is above ~800 RPM. There is no way to see exactly what's causing the issue, but here is a list of all the conditions that can reduce the health of the engine:
(A:ENG MANIFOLD PRESSURE:1, inhg) > 32
(A:PROP RPM:1, rpm) > 2750
(A:RECIP ENG CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE:1, CELSIUS) > 230
(A:ENG EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE:1, CELSIUS) > 870
(A:ENG OIL TEMPERATURE:1, CELSIUS) > 110
(L:var_ShockCooling_1, FAHRENHEIT) > 70 -
@voice-of-reason
Thanks for that information.
Looking at the list you provided, I don't think I exceeded any of those parameters.Might be the starter like you said, will have to watch that in the future.
Just a thought but it would be great to have a post flight critique showing areas that were exceeded during the flight.
I know I would like to see that so I could improve my flying.Thanks again.

@lancealotg
Hi, i was also wondering about how the "damage" is counted.
For me it's the same that in normal flight the damage does not increase even in full throttle/prop setting.But I recognized that giving positive G to the plane reduces the engine condition fast and massively.
Seen that by trying a looping but also when leveling out after a quick descent or on general applying higher pull forces over a longer time (i.e. steep curves).
It seems that the G-forces (positive and negative) you apply to the plane are more serious to the engine condition than a wrong engine handling. That makes not much sense to me.Can you verify this behaviour or explain it?
Nevertheless this is a stunning add on!

Greetings,
SycoraxJust for info:
It seems that this is really a bug in the addon, triggered by the cylinder temperature management in some way. The support is aware of this and will repair this in the next patch for the Analog Bonanza.Happy landings,
Patrick. -
I am not sure it is related but I noticed with every landing my engine health deteriorates 2%
1% is removed somwhere between touchdown and taxi to parking. Another 1% is removed when switching off the engine.Does anyone else experiences this? Is it something I do (or don't do) or a bug?

@allard From the developer for you...
The percent or two lost during shutdown is from cylinder cooling, and the problems from earlier in this thread were from overzealous changes in cooling rate due to the pitch of the aircraft with respect to oncoming wind. This was fixed in time for the Analog Baron release, but not the Analog Bonanza. A fix will be included in the next update. In the meantime, if you are interested in a quick fix, contact support, and they will be happy to share a new file with you.
