Analog Caravan Autopilot Operation Question
-
While doing my first flight in the new v0.1.3 Analog Caravan update (which I'm very much enjoying by the way!), I've noticed the autopilot behaves a bit differently, which is expected. However, when engaging the autopilot, it engages in ROL and PIT modes with ALT armed. How do I put it into VS mode without first entering ALT mode, causing my preselected altitude to change to the current altitude and the aircraft to abruptly level off or dive?
According to the KAP 140 manual, the preferred method of engaging the autopilot on takeoff is to press the HDG button, which engages the autopilot in HDG and VS modes, with ALT armed. I can't seem to do that in the sim. And the primary issue is that in PIT mode, I can't adjust my climb rate or pitch without disengaging and reengaging the autopilot, or first entering ALT HOLD mode.
Thanks!
