    Couple of oddities

    1. Having completed run-up ready to fly, can’t change the autopilot altitude, VS or Baro dials. Only seems to be that device

    2. The gyro correction dial now works reaaallllly slowly, didn’t used to

    3. Can’t find any axis variable in AxisAndOhs that works now, having to use the horrible MSFS axis control assignment thing.

Cannot comment on #3, but have not had any issues with 1 and 2 after updating to 1.1.

Hrmm. Wonder what’s going on then. I had some issues updating so reinstalled it all from scratch. Might do so again just to be sure then

          1. Do you have the "Control ALT SEL with Hardware Events" tablet option selected? If so, deselect it.

          2. Nothing change in this regard between versions.

          3. Hopefully someone with AxisAndOhs experience will chime in, but I can't really imagine that anything changed in this regard either.

Thank you sir! I have a sneaking suspicion I turned that first option on trying to work something out, so that makes sense.

No idea on the other two though, very strange.

Just wanted to chime in Re: Axis and Ohs. The axes bound on my pre-1.1 configuration work out of the box, on both variants. I think all of my button and switch assignments all continued to work as well, although I've made some changes to them so I can't be 100% sure.

Everything works aside from mixture for me. All my AAO axis assignments and Mobiflight button config is great. Just the mixture! No idea why

All sorted! Found an axis and config in AAO that works, got the flaps lever working properly, and realised the gyro and autopilot issues were firmly user error.

And now BeyondATC have rolled out the new VFR support I can properly start to enjoy this plane. Super!

                    2. Same for me, it's very very slow. The other problem I have with that is that it changes by itself when I start the plane. It solves the problem but it's not normal.

@Black-Square I have the same #2 issue with 114TC (didn’t try the other one), I need to turn the knob like 200 times to make a 90deg spin. It seems to happen before starting anything, like the first thing to do when entering the plane cold and dark. When engine is started and while in flight the compass turns as expected.

Oh, is that what you guys have been saying? That is be design, and accurate to real directional gyros. That don't really "take" any adjustment you give them until spinning. You can find a mention of this on ~page 23 of the manual:

The compass card will not rotate effectively until the gyroscope is at speed.

I'm actually intrigued by this one because all of the illustrations I've seen on directional gyros show the push knob gear directly coupled to the compass card. So then I asked ChatGPT about it and it mentioned that if the gyro isn't spinning then you don't have an inertial reference frame that the card would spin against... Taking that with a grain of salt but then thinking about how those things work on the inside I guess it's because you push and turn that knob and then you end up turning both the compass card and the gyro's gimbal at the same time because the gyro isn't spinning (at all) to keep itself steady in space.

So I guess it now makes sense in my head.

Isn't it funny how we can wrestle with something inside our heads until the 'sense' of it finally registers! What's confusing me about the DG is how the autopilot can follow the correct heading even when the compass card AND the heading bug are not aligned. Does the autopilot get its heading from the magnectic compass or some other 'bit of magic' behind the panel?

@SkipperMacz what directional source are you using for the AP? HDG or NAV? If it’s the latter then it’ll be taking its guidance from whichever nav source you’re using, if it’s the former then I’m not sure what’s going on 🙂

This is observed in HDG mode, so no nav source involved. For instance, I can be flying 360 deg on the magnetic compass, but with the DG showing 010 deg, the heading bug on the 360 deg mark but rotated left by 10 deg. Does that make sense (the explanation I mean lol)? So the aircraft is following the correct heading, but not that indicated by the bug.

I just tested it and it's working correctly. I made sure the compass and the directional gyro agree, set heading 102, engage HDG mode on the autopilot, the airplane held steady, then I pushed in the gyro adjustment knob, turned it a few degrees left so that the direction gyro read 095 and the autopilot corrected by banking the plane to the right to get me back onto the "correct" heading of 102.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I'll experiment again when I have time this evening (UK time) to see if 'mine' still tracks the correct heading even when the DG and bug are offset. The difference could possibly be that I'm engaging HDG mode when the DG is offset, whereas you engaged it when it was aligned and then fed in the offset?

Ok, after brief testing, mine is definitely tracking the heading from the compass. It doesn't matter what the DG is reading, the HDG follows the compass according to the reading from the (offset) bug. Strange!
