DME // Hide Vintage / Brake animation
-
If one decides to eliminate the vintage (dinosaur) DME and ADF units, one is left with no DME at all.
A simple, newer one in exchange would be enough..?
Also, it would be phenomenal to also remove the old RNAV system with this option. Nobody would keep it in parallel to a GTN. This already bothered me in the Beeches as well.
Regarding the transponder, similar story- the old Mode-C units are eliminated in Europe, Mode S is more or less mandatory. There are plenty of cool aftermarket solutions to choose from, which have not been simulated yet.
I absolutely love flying mixed panel and also use the KLN btw, I don't need glass, but it should be kept realistic.Brake animation: Right brake pedal animates both pedals on the copilot side, left brake pedal animates both pilot pedals.
Absolutely loving this bird btw, great addon with cool avionics!

Hello, you actually beat me to it. This is indeed a phenomenal little bird. I've truly been enjoying the heck out of her. However, it would indeed be nice to have instruments to match the new era GPS units. A new era HSI would be great as an option to swap out the older style one in the airplane now. Real world pilots are constantly swapping out gauges and panels for the newer modernized ones. It's great that the developer went vintage, however, newer technology seems to be the thing of here and now. A perfect example was several years ago when I was getting current with a flight instructor, I wanted to rely on my old methods of when I was in training(pilotage and VFR charts on my kneeboard, etc), the instructor looked at me and asked why would I want to overburden myself considering the airplane had a GTN650 unit in it. I got my PPL back in 1999, but that was then and he quickly made the point that so much has changed since then to relieve a lot of the challenges pilots faced in the cockpit. It's nice to have a backup plan ready in the event an emergency arose, but modern technology now is present as a pilot's aid, not hindrance.

@MatzeH84 Actually, the RNAV is there to provide DME via the VOR passthrough button when the ADF/DME are hidden. Then, most aircraft today with modern avionics have no DME receiver, because GPS can be used in lieu of DME, at least in the US. I was going to make the RNAV hideable too, but unfortunately, it requires a cutout in the panel for those thumbwheels, which complicates the matter. Also from a US perspective, you still see plenty of mode-C transponders, but the airplane is equipped with supplemental ADS-B out in a standalone unit. Yes, the brake animation has come up at least four or five times already, and I have fixed it for the next update
I've taken your comments under advisement, and I want to make everyone as happy as possible, so thank you for telling me what's important to you! -
Thanks for the heads-up directing me to the DME functionality of the RNAV, indeed this would make it a good reason to keep it in IRL. Meanwhile I found that it's pretty useful for reporting points in combination with the KLN90, which does not have them. SO right now, only a more modern transponder would be cool, something simple, but not yet simulated maybe.. TQ TTX2, or a Trig TT31, or [insert whatever option here].
