    Note: this was resolved, see below in thread.

    I have observed the following behaviors in the TDS GTN750 (B36T) and am interested if these are known differences, or if this may be just incorrect procedures on my part (MSFS 2024). I do fly IFR on a daily basis, so I am very familiar with ILS, RNAV, etc. approaches and techniques.

    1. load ILS approach (verified NAV1 freq/signal), activate HDG mode and crs for ~ 30deg intercept of LOC, arm APPR (visual confirmation of CPLD and GS indicators), aircraft flies through the LOC and does not capture. No issues with this same procedure w/ PMS50.

    2. after established on a final apch crs on short final I notice that the needle is centered but the plane is on an offset parallel path to the runway, maybe 30-40 feet).

    Neither of these issue occur w/ the PMS50, so I'm scratching my head as the Garmin Trainer (TDS) is assumed to be rock solid. Appreciate any insights or things I should focus on.

    Note: chatgpt suggests that TDS is more realistic and it is not unusual to have some parallel offset to the crs for the analog / older avionics / instrumentation in this aircraft. But I take AI perspective with a grain of salt.

        I was able to get it working. It was one of the following:

        1. activating VLOC before swapping the ILS frequency, or
        2. arming APR before the LOC needle started moving

        I have gotten used to how the PMS50 GTN behaves, which is not completeliy aligned to the actual Garmin GTN 750. I'm moving to the TDS because the PilotWorkshops GTN training uses it, and I can understand why ... as pilots in training in real life need to learn exactly how the real device operates.
