    Hi All,

I was testing out the Caravan and MSFS settings. At one point I tried to fail the engine on purpose, setting it to full throttle and putting torque in the red. Each time the engine health drops to 8-9%, but no further. This seemed to happen regardless of the MSFS failure settings. My question is: absent inducing engine failure in the dedicated tab, can the engine actually fail based on pilot inputs? Must other factors come into place in addition to maxed out throttle/prop speeds for the final 8-9% engine health to "bleed-off" and subsequently shut-down? Or could this be a bug?

    Thanks,

    B

What you're seeing here is that the engine loses power as its health degrades, which makes it difficult to hit the damaging torque range in the final few percent. There are numerous other factors which can degrade engine condition regardless of the torque setting, however, such as FOD, oil temperature, RPM transients, etc. I've thought about fixing this by reducing that damage range as health degrades too, but what I've done instead was increase ITT as health degrades, which will also add some more incentive to keep your engine healthy. This will be rolled out to all my turbine aircraft in their next updates. Let me know if you have any more questions!
