I'm mainly flying the Baron Pro, but have had problems, especially on short final and if the wind speed is 10kts+. I actually found the plane uncontrollable and nothing could stop it rolling over and crashing inverted. This happened with some other aircraft, but not all. I tried to use the MSFS2024 turbulence settings to fix it, but I found that setting it to Low or Medium resulted in no turbulence at all, so quite boring. Then I discovered and installed ActiveSky. I have set the Turbulence Effect Scale to 50% (the default) and then reduced overall wind turbulence from 100% to 50%. This results in there still being turbulence on the plane in the air (so we can still be Nick's fabulous wing-wobble), and some more turbulence on short final still, but now it's manageable. If you do change these options, remember to click 'Apply to current weather synthesis'. And what a great weather synthesis! Much more realistic looking skies, and more closely aligned to Windy.com's winds. Give it a go!

I noticed that too recently especially in comparison to the Aerostar or Comanche. The Baron and Bonanza become almost uncontrollable at moderate wind speeds usually on short final. I wish there would be a fix for the flight model itself. Any chance for some future improvement?

@piperdriver0624 I do not believe there is anything I can do about this, unfortunately. One would imagine that the inertia of the system and aerodynamic resistance to turbulence is calculated at the aerodynamic simulation level, based on the parameters of the aircraft. There is no general parameter I can adjust to adjust the effect of turbulence. I've generally had excessive turbulence reported to me since the beginning of MSFS 2020, but perhaps it's gotten worse in recent updates. As for the comparison to the Aerostar and Comanche, (don't quote me, since they're not my products), but I believe the turbulence for those aircraft is injected externally with the rest of the aerodynamics. Each method has its technical benefits and drawbacks, in my opinion.

I have spent a lot of time testing turbulence in both Bksq and A2A aircraft specifically in VR. A2A Aerostar has no turbulence at all, and the Comanche is completely borked with weird panel movements. So they are certainly not the holy grail. I would rather have the challenging turbulence of Bksq. I too had found the Low and Medium had nothing (same as A2A Aerostar), while Realistic was a handful to keep in control. I'm really pleased to see that Active Sky might be a work-around. I had stopped using it since 2024, time to re-activate it.

I think that the SU5 beta is a great step forward. I think the Baron and Bonanza now fly just like in real life (from what I remember of flying the Bonanza). The handling is amazing. Of course, sometimes there is some turbulence before touchdown, which is realistic. There are no better handling and landing planes in MSFS right now.

"Realistic" used to inject gusts of upwards of 100mph to get the turbulence effect. Have they tempered that in SU5?

I mostly fly across Europe using real world weather, especially to regional and small airports. I think that, just like in real life, you have to study the weather forecast carefully, analyzing fronts and wind speeds at various altitudes. You also need to check if there are any objects near the airport that might cause mechanical turbulence. Overall, it's a huge plus. That notorious effect of unnatural turbulence at 100–200 ft AGL seems to have been removed.
