KNS81 does not hold the waypoint course
-
I’ve started playing with the KNS81 and I really like it – I actually enjoy it more than flying with GPS.
I only have one problem: it does not guide me to the virtual waypoint that I created in Little Navmap. Instead, I always get some deviation away from my intended course, even though my virtual waypoint lies on that course from the VOR.If I understand it correctly, the KNS81 should work in a way that it guides me to the virtual waypoint using the HSI and keeps me on it, as long as the entered VOR reference is valid.
In screenshots A1, you can see the selected course and the deviation, which is completely off from the planned virtual waypoint.
In screenshot A2, you can see the corresponding view in Little Navmap and my test flight plan, where I created reference points from the VOR by measuring them and then entered those values into the KNS81. These points should therefore keep me on my course of 076°. However, the HSI is guiding me somewhere completely different. In screenshots B1, you can again see what my HSI looks like at that moment, and in B2 you can see how far I am from my selected course.
Finally, in C1 and C2, I intentionally waited until I selected the second waypoint to see whether I would stay on my track or if it would again pull me toward a different radial, like in B2. And yes, once again it deviated me away from my intended course. So my question is: why is this happening? What am I doing wrong?
I apologize if I’m posting this in the wrong discussion, but since I’m still a beginner, I’m not sure where to look for the mistake. I don’t know whether I’m entering something incorrectly, or if the issue is with the Bonanza, or with Little Navmap

I also want to add that the B screens show what it looks like when the needle is aligned with Little Navmap, and it seems like it always pulls me toward the VOR rather than the waypoint. Only once I line up does it start guiding me to my waypoint. I’m not sure if I’ve misunderstood how it’s supposed to work, but I assume it shouldn’t behave this way. KNS81 would then lose its purpose if I have to fly like this zig-zag. Something must be wrong

I'm 98% sure I'm an idiot and I'm on the wrong course, so it's my mistake. I'm still testing it to verify.
@fenthanyl You haven’t dialed in the correct frequency on your GTN 750. It’s showing 110.50, and it needs to be tuned to 113.50, which is the frequency of your selected VOR.
Edit: and if you want to hit your waypoint at 76°, you also need to turn your HSI to that course.

I agree, I like the KNS80/81 units better than GPS, too and I use them any time my attention isn't going to be diverted from the flight.
It doesn't look like you're trying to couple the autopilot to the KNS81, but I'll put this here just in case you didn't notice it in the manual: If you want to couple the autopilot to the KNS81, you have to use a non-GPS configuration. The Nav/GPS selector will become Nav/RNAV and you need to switch it to RNAV.

@fenthanyl Just checking to make sure you're all set now. I spent a while cross referencing maps and radials with your screenshots yesterday in preparation to understand the situation, but then I decided to see if anyone else saw something obvious before I launched into a full investigation.

You know what’s the worst part? I’m the kind of person who spends hours trying to find the mistake on their own before posting on a forum for help… and about an hour after I posted this thread, I realized that I had the wrong course set the whole time. I thought it was correct.
So I apologize, and thank you to everyone who replied and tried to help.
