Missing glass on instruments

Hey,

I am flying in VR but also checked in pancake mode. There is no glass on the instruments. At least it seems like it is missing. The instruments have a depth to it, but it looks like there is no glass in front of them.

@StefanL85 I agree. There is no glass effect on the instruments. I don't use VR, but I can confirm that there is no glass effect. I have reported this issue to the developer before. This is the same problem with previous aircraft.

We've been discussing this on the developer forums for a while. Asobo made an undocumented change that required us to change or glass materials, and they still do not appear to be working as they once did in MSFS 2020. Hopefully we will see some movement on this soon.

@Black-Square In my humble opinion, Asobo shouldn't be waited for. Look where MSFS 2024 is currently. It's been 1.5 years since its release, and basic bugs haven't been fixed. In my opinion, it would be great if you guys could make a working, spectacular glass effect.

@Black-Square That's a shame. It's really impairing the visual fidelity and immersion in the cockpit. Would have hoped that new releases could mitigate that by adapting to the new materials.

The strange part is that I do see glas on one of my tripple mon (side ones, not the primary). As soon as i center my view to this section the glas does disapear.

Yeah, it's pretty weird as if someone removed all the glass instrument covers and the windshields, windows.

@Black-Square I conducted two tests regarding the glass effect on the cockpit instruments.
The first test was performed on the Piper aircraft (Carenado Piper). In this case, I examined the glass effect, reflections, and overall reflectivity of the instruments. As shown in the video, regardless of the viewing angle, the glass effect remains consistently visible on the instrument panel. It appears properly implemented and visually convincing, independent of camera angle or movement.

In the second test, I examined the instrument glass effect on the Black Square Caravan Professional. Here, it is clear that there is effectively no visible glass effect on the instruments, even when viewed up close, as demonstrated in the video. However, an interesting behavior can be observed: when rotating the camera to extreme side angles and scanning across the panel, a brief glass reflection appears at certain angles. This effect disappears immediately as soon as the camera is moved.It is also important to note that these extreme side viewing angles are not representative of normal cockpit usage, as instruments are never observed from such positions in practice.

In conclusion, I would like to highlight that the Carenado Piper aircraft serves as a working example where the glass effect is consistently present and properly implemented. This clearly demonstrates that the feature is achievable. Therefore, I would kindly ask the developer of the Caravan Professional to address this issue and improve the glass effect so that it becomes consistently visible and visually convincing on the instruments.

@Black-Square I would like to ask — and also kindly request — whether the upcoming update will address the glass effect and instrument reflections on the cockpit gauges, as this is currently something that is noticeably missing from the overall visual experience.

I understand what the developer previously mentioned: that there are limitations on the Asobo Studio side regarding this aspect, and that this issue may not be resolved until those limitations are addressed. However, it is also visible that since release, the developers of Microsoft Flight Simulator have not really focused on this problem, and in my personal opinion, they are unlikely to do so in the future.

For this reason, I would like to ask the Caravan developer to consider implementing their own solution for instrument glass effects and reflections. Even an interim or custom solution would significantly enhance immersion and visual quality for users, at least until — or if ever — Asobo addresses this limitation.
