RTU Line events acting different for RTU1 vs RTU2
-
It has already been mentioned that the RTU line events listed in the manual (e.g. H:RtuLine3_L) were incorrect. I've successfully programmed buttons for the knobs on both RTU's as well as being able to toggle between 8.33 frequency on both units. I was attempting to get the 2nd bezel button to allow swapping of Com frequencies and found that if I input "(>H:Rtu_Line2_1)" that it will work for the left side RTU1 unit. Using "(>H:Rtu_Line2_2)" for the right RTU2 unit though it won't behave the same. I can mouse click on one of the other bezel buttons and pressing the hardware button for the second bezel button will cause the light to change to the second line but a second press will not swap the com frequency. This is only for RTU2 (right side RTU), it works for the left RTU1 unit.

Ah-ha. I remember how I copied the events incorrectly, but you seem to have figured that out. So, you're saying that the right RTU's events are behaving different from the left's, but only when you use hardware? Does everything appear to be working correctly when triggered from the virtual cockpit?

@Black-Square Hi Nick. I'm trying to figure this out since even pressing the 2nd bezel button with the mouseclick won't swap the frequency. I'm curious if attempting to set other com2 commands via FSUIPC I altered some internal setting. Restarting sim to cycle through some keyboard based commands to see if that changes anything. RTU1 will swap frequencies when pressing the 2nd bezel button for standby and will work with the button programmed on my hardware. RTU2 will not change frequency but will move the indicator light to alongside whichever bezel button pressed.

I'm in the sim now and the right RTU unit is not changing com frequencies when the 2nd bezel button is mouseclicked.

Do you have the aircraft fully powered up while testing, or are you running on battery power? I recall there being some weirdness (probably from FS95), where the swap function would not work if some radio circuits were not receiving power, even if you could change frequencies with the events (like from FSUIPC).

@Black-Square I'll try that next. Was using battery power since I was busy writing the myevents folder to get specific buttons programmed.

@Black-Square That was it... how strange. Once started up and all powered up I tuned a frequency in RTU2 and it swapped the frequency just like it's supposed to do! Thank you.

Sorry it wasted your time! It's a miracle that I can remember some of these things I notice once about the code left over from 30 years ago...
