Finished a round the world flight in the P Baron - took the southern route east to west. It's a LOOOOONG way across the southern pacific!!! Perfect plane for that trip - it can go up high and sip fuel for the long overwater flights and can fly low with reasonable fuel burn for the low VFR legs.

Warning - some of the long overwater legs required careful planning with winds aloft. I landed with 7 gallons left in the tanks once :O. Western South America is a great region to fly the P Baron - lots of high altitude airports. I'll be dreaming of flying into south pacific islands for a long time!!

Here's my full route if anyone would like to try out parts of it. The legs that you see just direct from source to destination were legs that I chose to fly VFR (when there was favorable weather and what there was to see):

Brilliant, I've been doing flights recreating a ferry flight I did once.
Few questions: What power settings were you using, Leaning ROP or LOP? Altitudes used?
        Thanks!

For the real long ones climbing all the way up to 24/25k feet and running at 24 in/2200 rpm LOP per the real POH. I posted a simbrief profile on the forum here that I use for planning - https://community.justflight.com/topic/9333/simbrief-profile-for-the-58p .

Don't forget to plan for the 1/2 gallon per hour that the heater will use - and cross feed the left engine for a bit so you don't run out of fuel on that side. I'd go halfway through the flight and then figure out how much it'll burn for the 2nd half and run the left engine on cross feed until I have that much extra on the left - that way when I have minimum fuel it's equal.
