B58P low fuel flows
-
Hi Nick!
Loving the Baron's and 'Bo's. Question about the performance data on the P Baron.
At all cruise altitudes, the fuel flow when leaned to peak TIT (per POH) is about 5 GPH per engine too low. Just as an example, 10k ISA 33IN/2400RPM should result in FF of 19.1 GPH per engine. This is consistent between the 58P POH as well as your performance tables included in the manual when converted from PPH. However, in the sim, the highest fuel flow achievable (which is, obviously, full rich mixture) is 18.1 GPH per side. Leaned to peak TIT, fuel flows are around 15.5 GPH per side. Boost pumps make no appreciable difference.
The cruise TAS is in the ballpark, but still about 8-10kts too slow at any given altitude and power setting.
For what it's worth - I've also run into issues figuring out which A36TC is actually modeled. I'd assume a TAT IO550 A36TN because I can't find any reference to an A36TC with an IO550, but the recommended leaning technique in the TAT POH supplement does not align at all with what you recommend in the Blacksquare manual and results in seriously conflicting performance there as well.
I know I'm being very nitpicky here, but hopefully the 58P fuel flow is something you can shed some light on! While it's nice having a 15% more fuel efficient Baron, I'm struggling to reconcile the differences from the book values. It's sipping gas compared to what I'd expect!
Thanks for any insight!
