New GND COM functionality
-
I dusted the Starship off last night, my first time flying in probably a good month or two.
While I was cruising at altitude, I was looking over the panel again and remembered reading on here about new ground comm functionality. I was obviously fully up and running, but like any good engineer I pressed the button anyway to see what would happen.
As expected since my avionics were up, nothing, but I did hear the various startup sounds like when she's cold and dark and first coming to life. I'm not sure how to describe the various beeps and whirs, but it was repeatable when turning the GND COM button on and off.
Expected, or minor bug? I would imagine "pressing the button when the plane is powered up like an idiot" was probably pretty low on the testing order, but some of us treat everything like a new TV remote

I can check on this later, but are you sure it wasn't just the one beep from pressing the GND COM button? If there was no change to the electricity state, it really shouldn't trigger any other sounds.

The beep is actually slightly different, for whatever reason. Not to doubt you, but I can imagine myself being fooled into hearing those sounds after the beep too. I can check later. I don't want to dismiss your account.

I believe you were right about it being the single beep. Playing with it on the ground right now, and I hear how the GND COM button is distinctive from the pilot/copilot starting beep. It's possible that I misheard the various fans and wind sounds after the beep since it did kinda surprise me.
Related: I noticed that turning the pilot avionics will make that startup beep, and so will the copilot avionics, but only if the other one isn't already powered. Will GND COM always make that beep regardless of what else is running?
Otherwise this is a non-issue.

The beep is from the computers in the cabinet behind the copilot's seat, which get powered up for either avionics switch, so that makes sense. The ground com will always make its beep separately.
