SU4 Beta known issues?
-
Is it ok for you that I simply choose myself if I take part in a beta or not?
The sim is currently unpredictable with or without a beta.
I'm betatester since nearly 20 years now, A2A, HifiSim, Aerosoft (regret that), FSReborn, Aivlasoft, AxisAndOHs, Majestic and some back then I already forgot.
But thanks, theres always that guy who reminds one what a beta is if anyone complains about it.My intention was just to ask if other have probably the same behave.
And behind my sentence about the sim is a smiley. -
I just want to add, that the Starship and SU4 Beta 1.6.7 produce 100% CTD here at my system. I tried several flights over the last days with different setups. And now, even by just sitting on the apron with ext pwr on (no flightplan loaded), the sim CTDs.
It depends, mostly the CTD was about after 20 to 40 minutes.DISCLAIMER:
I DO NOT complain about the Starship, nor do I complain about the beta!! Its just a report, no action needed!
This post is just for other users which probably encounter the same issues and wonder if other Starship-Lovers are affected.
I'm sure that with the next SU4 Beta versions, this behave got solved. -

I haven't had any reports of CTD with Starship since v1.1 implemented some workarounds for faulty autopilot function calls within the simulator. Hopefully this is not Starship specific, and will be eliminated with the next beta update.

I'm sure that with the next SU4 Beta versions, this behave got solved.@Guenseli Just for information, I dont have any trouble with the Starship in 1.6.11 SU4. I had some strange behavior in the couple of first SU4 builds, but I've done at least 4 full flights with the Starship in the last few days without any issues. And I have played around with as much of the system-details as I can. So I cant say I have encountered any of your problems in my system

Just tried another flight again.
Before that I uninstalled the Starship, deleted every remain in Limitless folder, installed from a fresh downlod.Unfortunately I had a crash again, right at final approach.
What is common now in my last CTDs, that it was always at approach or touchdown or between. No addon airports used (however I haven't emptied my community folder)

Ok, I'm maybe a step further:
the only thing I made different in the use of the Starship was to use remote CDU and MFD with AxisAndOHs. That means technically that the two displays where be layed out and be streamed to my tablet.
That worked without any problem in SU3. It worked also without any problems in SU4 Beta, but I tried now some flights without and haven't had any CTDs now.Maybe coincidence, but who knows ...

I think I can 100% reproduce it now:
using the AAO external CPU and MFD does crash the combination MSFS2024 and Starship unfortunately.
Otherwise, if I don't use it, no problems.Sad, but glad I can fly it. Maybe at one point it would work again if Su4 further develops.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing, and for experimenting. Just to clarify, when you say remote CDU and MFD, you mean just popping the screens out to put on a monitor/tablet, not accessing them with hardware inputs or anything else, correct? Unfortunately, that sounds like a simulator level issue, and not a Starship issue, even if you're finding it present with Starship. Is there something that seems to cause the CTD when you have the screens popped out? If you get just one extra detail, I can share this with Asobo on the developer forum and try to get you a solution.
