ON when starting then AUTO after the successful start, but I think I tried both ways... but I'll try the start again set to AUTO... thanks for the hint

No, it should be On, but I see it doing that "hunting" in AUTO before I start which is why I asked.

Feel free to send a video or screenshots of what you are trying, and I will be happy to help. My initial guesses are the engine health, which can be viewed on the engine visualizer page of the tablet display, or whether a hardware binding might be interfering with the fuel controls.

@jmarkows That was the cause, but having it in ON apparently toasted the engine. I had to repair that then it worked ok... thanks again.

I’m not sure that the fuel pump switch position should really have an impact on engine starting between on and auto but it definitely shouldn’t cause a temperature overage on starting. Glad you got it started, though.

Was the condition lever in something other than Off when you started it? If so, that hot start would probably be why you demolished your engine almost immediately.

Had it happen once in the Starship because the virtual levers were out of sync with my physical levers for some reason. Before I could even react the right engine was cooked.

@Black-Square Yes, in the 2020 original version, it didn't matter if the ignition in OFF or AUTO.

@jmarkows No, I always check the control lever positions prior to beginning. Often, the lever position in the virtual cockpit does not match the actual controller position. Good point, though.
