Oh, I'm really sorry to hear that :(.
Is it still able to be installed now 'as is' into MSFS2024, or will that cause issues?

@Captain_J lol, Bob there is not the dev and is just expressing his own personal choice.

Nick has not made any formal announcements since FSExpo that I'm aware of, but FS24 updates are coming at some point in the hopefully not too distant future from what has been said previously. People on the forums have reported dragging the Duke folder from the 2020 Community folder into the 2024 one with varying degrees of success.

I think, though I am also not the dev, the big sticking point is Nick's dynamic registration scheme is completely SNAFU in 2024 and Asobo doesn't seem to have much interest in fixing the issues he's reporting. It's wholesale disabled in the Starship for 2024, and from forum posts it seems like he's reluctant to release other planes without that functionality, but may just do it anyway if headway isn't being made.

I think he might be waiting for SU3 which hopefully should be out in August. That's my hope anyway, because I bought the Duke without realising it was not officially updated for 24. I was going to try some stuff to trick the installer into installing the plane and dragging it into to 2024 but I think, based on some YouTube videos, I can see some stuff isn't right so I haven't bothered. Anyway, I wait patiently.

That's correct. I've been waiting for SU3, which I thought we would released in June, based on previous schedules. Then it was supposed to be something like July 7th, then last week I heard definitely the 28th. I have new versions of all my aircraft ready to launch, so it's just a waiting game now.

I apologize that we are now nine months into MSFS 2024 without official compatibility for my aircraft, but MSFS 2024 has been less reverse compatible than expected, and much less stable in the beta versions than I could have predicted. You have my apologizes. I plan to release the updates for all my aircraft when SU3 releases, regardless of the long-standing bugs in 2024 that I'm still not expecting to be fixed.

I moved the turbine duke from the community folder in 2020 to the 2024 community folder about 3 months ago when I changed from the 2020 sim to the 2024 sim. The duke has not missed a beat, but I have been in the beta all of the time, yes, the dynamic rego was missing at the start, but since the su3 beta, everything is working as it did in 2020. But I can understand why Nick is waiting for the full release of su3. Still, I am hoping that in the update, the co-pilot is visible from the inside, smiles...

@Black-Square Apologies for the ping. I'm currently eyeing the Duke sale bundle and am on the fence on whether to pull the trigger or not. I've bought addons in the past that I ultimately ended up not flying, so I'm a bit wary. I looked around but couldn't find much information on what to expect of the compatibility update. I understand it'll be free for existing owners? I'm mainly curious about walkaround features and especially if it'll have the headphone jack clickspot with adjustable noise cancelling from the Starship. Love you and thanks!

              @xip
If you do purchase the piston and turbine Duke package and want to install it in MSFS 2024 this is the only way it works with the current installer. Support wrote me back and said they are working on a SFS 2024 installer when the new update comes out for 2024 compatibility so in the meantime, just use this method ….the planes are working great for me in 2024.

              1. Create directory "Microsoft Flight Simulator" inside directory
                "C:\Users%USERNAME%|AppData|Roaming"
              2. Copy file "UserCfg.opt" from
                "C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local|Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8
wekyb3d8bbwelLocalCache" into newly created directory above (1.)
That's it - then you can run installer and after install you can remove directory from 1.

@xip Yes, all my 2024 aircraft updates will be free. I've been wanting to release them for MSFS 2024 for nine months now, but every time I think I'm ready, Asobo breaks something else that I deem important to the user experience. I was waiting for SU3, which was supposed to release in June, then July 7th, then July 28th, and now it's August. If I could have predicted these extensive delays, I would have released them in their current states many months ago. I apologize. With SU3 being imminent for the last six weeks, hopefully you won't have to wait much longer.

SU3 did not fix any of the bugs that I have been reporting since release, so I am now implementing all the workarounds necessary to deliver my aircraft as future-proof as possible for MSFS 2024. I suspect that will only take a few days, and we will begin updates next week.

Asobo doesn't seem to listen much. The ATC, AI, and other issues persist from 2020. I'm hopeful they will address some of the more pressing issues because the sim is better overall. But the night lighting is too bright (e.g., too much bloom). I'm glad the nav lights, landing lights, strobes, et cetera, are visible now, but the whole lighting system is too much. Not unlike 2020, but twice as bright. Will we expect any tweaks to the night lighting in the Starship, or will that affect too many things, like day lighting? The interior lights have a halo around them and many things need to be dialed all the way down on the overhead. I'm excited for the next round of releases though 😁

I couldn't agree more about MSFS 2024's lighting system. Apart from the exaggerated halos, I think the adaptive exposure system is actually to blame. I have had to retool all the lighting on all my aircraft for MSFS 2024, and I think the results are significantly worse than MSFS 2020. I don't think we will see a solution for that anytime soon, but it's nice to know that I'm not alone in my thinking.

It's truly unfortunate, because many things look so good. Some lights should be bright and look amazing being bright, like landing lights. But every single light is on steroids. The mountains around Phoenix were completely lit up like day time after I landed tonight, lmao. The textures are sharp and realistic, the road traffic, lane markings, better environmental city lights, volumetric effects, lightening, rain effects, and more. All very wonderful stuff, and to be honest if Asobo would reduce the way the lights overexpose and reflect so far away, the sim would look amazing. I love flying at night and Asobo could do so much better. X-Plane seems to have dialed in the night lighting much better, but I don't own it.

Looking forward to getting the Baron for MSFS 2024. You can always update the plane via patch versus waiting for MSFS 2024 to improve which might take a few more years πŸ™‚

Yeah the night lighting sucks. In some planes the bloom is so bad it's hard to see and taxi around at night because it looks like there's a dense fog when the landing/taxi lights are on.

@piperdriver0624 Of course! It's only my Steam Gauge Overhaul aircraft that will not be joining us in MSFS 2024, because changes to the underlying simulator made that virtually impossible. Instead, there will be Professional Series, which is their replacement with many more features and far better graphics.

                                          Hi Nick,
To say we are excited to bring the Duke series into 2024 for our streams is a massive understatement. Unlike others, I have not chosen to port the 2020 version over as I did not want to represent the Duke in a way other than intended. I appreciate the struggles and hard work you've put into this update. I have been compensating by showing of the Starship - but I am getting seriously itchy to jump back into a Bendix cockpit and show off some old fashioned IFR.

Anyways this message was just one of thanks and encouragement. Looking forward to the impending release!
                                          Regards,
                                          Willy.
