I fully realize that Beta versions of FS2024 are not supported, so this post is more of a FYI for the Developer. 😉

Pressing external lighting buttons in the Starship cockpit such as landing lights, nav lights, strobes, etc, should cause a green bar light to illuminate to indicate the button is activated, however since Beta version 1.5.21 the aforementioned buttons are not lighting up when pressed. The actual external lights themselves do not appear to function either. This situation occurs with both engines running and both generators online and outputting proper amperage.

    Yay, Asobo.

I should point out that other users are now experiencing the same problem with other aircraft in the sim with Beta 1.5.21 installed, so the problem is obviously not isolated with the Starship. Official Flight Simulator forum post here.

I seem to be able to coax some of the buttons to work properly if I cycle the relevant circuit breakers on the left side cockpit wall (if that helps anyone).

    Cheers.

Amazing. Thanks for the heads up. I was just feeling bad about branding the MSFS Betas "very unstable" earlier. Your message serves to quell my guilty conscience.

There appears to be a workaround at the moment: Go into the settings menu and switch the mouse interaction behavior from 'Locked' to 'Legacy'. This turns off the blue highlight effect when hovering over mouseable buttons and switches. Asobo apparently tried to address some kind of shimmering effect with mouse-highlighted buttons and the result was essentially disabling those buttons.

Again, this is only applicable to FS2024 Beta 1.5.21 (so far).

I curse myself every time I install a Beta version, LOL, but always get seduced by the adoring crowds on the Microsoft forum. "It's like a whole new sim!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Maybe I'll learn one day. 😉

Ah. That makes sense, as the only item in the changelog that I was thankful for was that exact flashing effect on instrument gauges caused by the Lock interaction system. Not that anyone has seriously accused me of this, but hopefully you can recount this discovery for anyone who says I delay my aircraft updates for no reason while blaming MSFS 2024's instability.
