I like updates to products because it apparently triggers a dopamine hit, and I'm sure Nick has been working harder than it already appears to us on the forums to relentlessly perfect the Starship (and the myriad other BS products in the pipeline), but to be honest, for my use the Starship is exquisite as it is. We're very lucky to have someone who pours over it in such detail that it was released in such a wonderful state, with only minor things that needed correcting, even to the most discerning eye.
I appreciate the people here who do know these systems (or are least more dedicated than I in pouring over the documentation) and point out things that may or may not modeled correctly (without meaning any disrespect to anyone), and Nick's general willingness to investigate these things, and it shows in the final product, even if some of the minutiae escape my particular eyes.
I once got into a spat with the head of a certain add-on company who make a four engine radial airplane because I, along with a good portion of the forum crowd, felt that that plane had been neglected for far too long; the sim had long evolved around it, certain things were no longer working right or at all, and there was no word of any pending update in several very long months. Things as important as the autopilot were fundamentally broken.
Eventually, the head came to the forums to chastise us for implying the product was dead and that was in any shape other than perfectly fine, and he ended the post with a line that will forever be burned into my head:
Your patience is appreciated- and nothing we may add or fix in the product will diminish it's utility or robustness of purpose as is.
Nothing says you have pride in your products like referring to its utility or robustness of purpose.
I'm just so thankful we have a developer who embodies the complete opposite of that.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

There is also the issue of crunch time and burnout. I'm sure Nick was working hardest up until release, and THEN there was FlightSimExpo. I'm sure he needs a break. Also, it's quite possible he just honestly doesn't know when it will be ready, i.e. it will be ready when it's done.

No rest for the wicked over here. I'm waiting for SU3 to see if I can enable the custom registration numbers before the next update.
I'm glad someone is excited, haha. Thanks for the message. It's been probably another 100hrs+ of work fixing bugs after release, just due to Starship's complexity. It satisfies my perfectionism, but as you can imagine, it can also feel like a thankless effort. Thank you for your thanks

About this, do you have it disabled for the entire plane, or just the liveries that came with it?
I have a friend who dabbles in photoshop and does the liveries for our VA; he made one for Starship and insists the dynamic registration has never not worked for him in 2024, whereas it's never once worked for me.

@Black-Square Thanks for the thankless work, and since people are asking about liveries... any chance you can explain how to properly structure a 2024 Starship livery and its thumbnail files so that the thumbnail doesn't show "MSFS 2020"? When doing a 3rd party livery is it possible to tuck them into the same section as the original liveries, or should they always appear as another aircraft variant?
Nobody teaches these things...

@Black-Square I'm (im)patiently awaiting the Xbox release.

Since SU3 Beta, it has not worked for me 90% of the time. However, if you are patient, you CAN get it to show up. First of all, the system needs to be enabled. I did it for all liveries (default and my own) by removing the "//" at the appropriate part of the panel.cfg. Then, I open a default airplane e.g. B748. I configure it and set the registration number of my Starship. Save & Go Back. Once on the home screen, select the Starship and your particular livery. 75% of the time, after the prop brake populates on the model, your registry will also appear. If not, go back and forth between the default and Starship. It's shameful that something like this has a mind of its own. But at least I can fly with a reg. 100% of the time in SU3. Only the amount of patience varies a bit.
