    Hi all,
In the video Omega/VLF No GPS Navigation at minute 2:30 it's explained that starship uses automatically tuned DME/DME for rho-rho triangulation. When the radio remote tuning switch is in normal it can use rho-theta and theta-theta too as it is now able to tune VOR stations too. So far so good. I was now wondering, if I flick the switch too disable, but keep tuning the VORs manually, will it stil be able to do rho-theta and theta-theta? Also, can it use an ILS signal for rho-theta too?

Yes, you can tune stations manually, and their signal will be used for triangulation, assuming it is strong enough. I do not know if a localizer can be used for triangulation, to be honest. I see no mention of it in the avionics system manual, but it's also 600+ pages long, so it's possible I missed something.

How cool. Thanks. I also did not find any reference in the avionics manual. Also it would be quite a corner case in day to day usage, as if you have a localizer tuned you probably Guide on the localizer anyway.

Unfortunately, the original avionics manuals are actually very outdated and inaccurate compared to the present state of Starship's avionics. I'm worried that some of my users might see the original manuals and think that it's me who is inaccurate when it's actually the manuals!

Yes, you mentioned that before. I wouldn't worry too much about that on the level your aircraft are on.

Are the manuals still a good place too look for answers when it's not in the Black Square manual? Or rather better directly consult the forum here?

Looking forward for what the day may bring 🙂

The original manuals are a great place to start for anything you might want more detail on than I supplied. Just do so knowing that you might be surprised once you get in the cockpit. I am always here, and even more happy than usual to answer your questions, given that they concern my favorite aircraft ever built 🙂
