TBM850 in 2024
-
I have been flying the TBM850 in 2024 and mostly it goes very well. Unfortunately it has a few small issues. When flying the TBM in dense scenery I get some stutters and the aircraft registration lettering is a bit "flaky" and the auto pilot makes some wide turns where the FP takes a sharp corner, although that might be a 2024 AP issue. I realise this version was not created for 2024 but I'm posting for others to know how it might perform until a proper 2024 version arrives. I've tested one other well known third party 2020 aircraft, in 2024 and it goes well too, without the stutters, but with "flaky" registration.
All in all the TBM can be used in 2024, on my computer, but I'll just need to overlook the issues, it's still nice to fly it in 2024. -
Thanks for the report. I have been looking into these stutters recently, as I have seen them reported with all of my complex aircraft, and several other complex 3rd party aircraft in MSFS 2024. This surprised me, as I take a substantial effort in development to make my aircraft frame rate friendly. I suffered for too many years with a lower-end PC not allowing me to enjoy the aircraft I wanted to fly for my users to face the same dilemma, so performance has always been a top priority of mine.
Unfortunately, to the best I can tell, this is a MSFS 2024 problem with the "CoherentGT" system used to render avionics and my tablet displays. Asobo has said that they are working on a solution in our developer forums, and there may have been some improvement in SU1 Beta already, but other developers are reporting that there is still a significant loss of performance and stuttering for Coherent-based avionics. I will keep you updated if I learn more, or if there is anything I can do to mitigate the problem on my end. Hopefully they will correct this problem so that we can have the same performance that we did in MSFS 2020.

@Black-Square For me it's running fairly well! It's actually now my most flown AC in 2024. And am happy to read that your still keep looking into the 850 for future updates/patches.

Thanks for letting me know. After I've asked about this stuttering issue, it seems that only some users in 2024 are experiencing it. while strange, it is also similar to so many other issues I've seen in 2024, which seems much more sensitive to people's particular hardware and operating systems than 2020 was.
I'm glad you're enjoying the TBM! Indeed, if you haven't seen, I have even overhauled the KAS 297B for a future update from knowledge I gained working on the Starship. It will now have proper vertical speed arming, altitude capture arming, and vertical speed synchronizing. I hope you enjoy it!

can you please make this aircraft compatible to fs2024. It worked for me until simupdate2 beta since then I have no sound anymore. Before Simupdate2 beta it worked except the gn750.
Please make it available in 2024. I like the 850 more than the 930. so please.

@cheddarchezz have you copied the Asobo TBM 930 from MSFS 2020 into your MSFS 2024 Packages/Official2020 Folder or into your Community folder? Everything in the 850 has worked for me since I did that.

@RPGamerous i copied it into the official2020 folder. it worked until i tried simupdate_2beta. the game runs better with the simupdate2 but as soon as i use simupdate2 the sound is no longer working.

I'm not on the beta, but I've reinstalled the sim a number of times, and every time I have to again disable items I don't want active, and enable items I do want that the sim doesn't recommend. And I recall one of the initial problems when I tried the TBM in 2024 was that it had no sound, and installing the 2020 version of the 930 is what sorted that out. I'm not sure if you've checked this, but I have a hunch that when you switched to the beta, the sim may have disabled your 930 from 2020, and enabled the 2024 version. And even though I'm not on the beta, something did change with my TBM about a week ago, I suddenly had problems starting it. As an experiment, I moved the 2020 Asobo model to my Community folder, and it fixed the problem. But now I wonder: did the 2024 version get enabled somehow? Maybe moving the 2020 version from the Official2020 folder to the Community folder just triggered it to swap the 2020 version in again.
What I would do to help diagnose the issue, is look in my aircraft list to see which 930 the sim was loading. It's possible it reverted to the 2024 version for some reason, and you didn't notice. If you haven't already tried this idea, it might be worth your time to check. The 2020 version will be listed as "Daher TBM 930 - Asobo Studio." The 2024 version will be "Daher TBM 930 - Asobo Studio" as well, but underneath it will say "Passengers." You could also check by searching "TBM" in marketplace->my library to see which one is enabled. The 2020 version is 0.1.120 and the current 2024 version (found in "base content") is 3.19.0 although 3.10.0 is also available for me.
Hope you figure it out, it's such a great plane to fly.
