Analog King Air 1.5 Possible bugs thread
-
Hey Nick, couple things I found that if confirmed by others may be actual bugs.
1. The interior cockpit left seat and right seat overhead white flood lights aren't working anymore..User error- About a thousand feet before altitude capture while coupled to the AP in pitch mode, the AP commands the FD bars to level attitude and then a few seconds later will continue the climb or descent normally to the correctly capture the altitude selected. It seems like 1000 foot altitude capture warning is causing the autopilot to stop it's climb or descent momentarily.
If anyone can confirm these please chime in...

I just checked the overhead lights, and they seem to be working correctly for me. What you might be seeing is that some items (which might include those lights, I would have to check) moved to buses that are subject to automatic load shedding. Were you attempting to use these lights while powering up the aircraft, or during flight with everything running normally? If the former, try holding the GEN TIES switch to the MAN CLOSE position to see if this provides power to the overhead lights.
As for the autopilot, I do not believe anything changed that could have affected this, but anything is possible. I can look into it more later.

I just checked again and before I started the flight I reset the failures to default rate and cleared all failures and the overhead floods were working again. I must have had a failure associated with the overheads...
As for the autopilot and the slight burp at 1000 feet before alt capture, I am in the sim and testing right now and I am still seeing the hiccup 1000 before alt capture in pitch mode. Will test VS and FLC.

@Black-Square Hey Nick....
Just did a thorough test with all the pitch modes for alt select capture.
Using VS or IAS (FLC) there is no hiccup at all during alt capture.
Using Pitch Mode with Pitch Sync to capture a selected altitude will cause the FD to momentarily command level flight 800-1000 feet before altitude capture in a descent or a climb. After this happens the FD will recover to the preselected climb or descent pitch attitude until normal altitude capture.
How to re-create......
- Level flight at 10000 engage autopilot with ALT hold and HEADING Hold.
- Select 12000 and use pitch sync to start a 2000/min climb while coupled to AP.
- At ~11200 feet the aircraft will pitch down to almost level flight and then start climbing again to selected ALT.
- Do the same steps for a descent.
One last note.. The rate of climb or descent for last 300 feet before the AP captures the selected altitude seems too slow.
Cheers

A couple other items I have found on the new update of the Kig Air...
TO/GA Mode - Gets cancelled after engaging the AP.
How to recreate....-
Line up on the runway ready for takeoff with the FD disconnected and no FD modes active.
-
Press TO/GA button to activate TO/GA mode and note the FD command a 10 degree climb on runway heading.
-
Start the takeoff and climb via the FD
-
At 500 feet agl engage the AP
-
Upon initiation of the AP the FD bars will disappear and aircraft will hold attitude in pitch and roll mode.
-
I would expect the AP to track the FD bars from TO/GA mode and stay in TO/GA mode with the FD active after engaging the AP.
VS mode does not capture the current rate of climb or descent when VS pitch mode is activated
How to recreate...-
Set aircraft in level flight with AP on and in ALT and HEAD mode.
-
Disconnect AP and start a climb of 1000 fpm.
-
Select VS mode and note that FD bars are set at level flight.
-
I would expect engagement of VS mode to capture and command the current rate of climb or descent that the aircraft is currently in upon selection of VS mode.
Comments or test results from others appreciated.
