CWS and OAT

I am having trouble getting the CWS working on my HC Alpha yoke. I followed the manual and connected a button (with SPAD.Next) using the SYNC_FLIGHT_DIRECTOR_PITCH - that didn't work so I tried “L:var_PilotCws and that didn't work (button programmed for Held action).

The OAT units setting does not appear to be enduring - it always defaults to oF after I have set it to oC. The inside temp gauge holds its setting.
Cheers and thanks for a great aircraft/update.

I have a button on my alpha yoke mapped within msfs to SYNC_FLIGHT_DIRECTOR_PITCH, and it works perfectly.. As a matter of fact, the alpha profile is the same profile I have been using for the King Air. You should simply press and hold the button, then adjust pitch with the yoke and the FD should follow the attitude line.. Then release and the FD will hold position.

Hey @Camo
I just tried my BKSQ C208 and it does not have FD pitch sync like the B350, B60 and TBM8. I also did not see it mentioned anywhere in the BKSQ C208 manual. It is probably not a simulated feature of the BKSQ Caravan, which would explain why it's not working for you.

You can fix it by yourself: https://community.justflight.com/topic/6060/outside-temperature-instrument-c-f

@Buzz I can be climbing with AP/YD/NAV/IAS mode selected and an altitude set. With the SIMCONNECT binding I get no CWS message and the AP does not release pitch control. I push the nose down to increase the IAS but it just reverts to the previous attitude/IAS.
I also tried it by pressing the actual CWS on the Sim yoke - the CWS message appears but control/AP response is the same. Happens with either the G530 or PMS GTN 750 installed.
-
@Camo The pitch sync adjusts only the pitch axis, not the IAS reference.
Try this..
- Load the 850 on to the runway threshold ready for takeoff.
- Align heading bug with runway heading.
- Press the TO/GA button.
- Make sure FD is visible on the AI..The FD should be commanding about 5-10 degrees nose up and wings level.
- Takeoff and handfly the aircraft to 500 feet on runway heading.
- at 500 feet engage the autopilot.
- The aircraft should be in a stable climb.
- Press and hold the pitch sync button and push the yoke over to command a lower pitch.
- let go of the pitch sync button.
- The plane should hold the new attitude you just set..

Hi @Buzz - In essence, that was what I was doing in the explanation above - change in pitch changes IAS. The TO/GA function works fine (as you indicated).
I get no CWS message in the AI so the CWS function is not active. When I press the CWS button on the Sim yoke, I get the CWS message but when I push my hardware yoke forward, the FD bars do not follow and settle at the new pitch commanded with the yoke - it just pitches back up to the original commanded FD pitch angle. It appears that the AP is not releasing the servos to allow the pitch change.
I have tried a different hardware button (and no other buttons are mapped to SYNC_FLIGHT_DIRECTOR_PITCH.

@Buzz - Ahhhhhhh. I finally see the light. I had IAS mode selected on the AP panel and it doesn't work in this mode (as you suggested but I didn't get :) ). I guess I thought it should work in that mode as it does on the BAE146.
It works now but still don't get the CWS message in the display (as you do when you select it on the actual Sim yoke). I'll raise a Ticket with JF.
Mate, thanks heaps for you help - old blokes are sometimes a bit slow on the up-take.
Cheers

As of this moment, there is no way for a developer to detect if the pitch has been resynchronized without intercepting input events, which raises its own can of worms that I try to avoid whenever possible. I'm glad the functionality is working for you now, though!

@Black-Square Thanks for the response re IAS and CWS. Will you be able to get the CWS message up on the AH when the CWS button is held-in?
-
That's the part my message was in reference to. I can't display the CWS indicator on the screen if there is no variable I can use to detect it.
-
@Black-Square - Ahh got it. How about the IAS/CWS mode working? Thanks heaps.
