As I often fly relatively short flights and at altitudes under 6000ft, it's convenient to skip pressurisation checks and avoid some pressure cycles on the airframes (not that it matters, but hey... it's a simulator) by flying unpressurised.

I was interested to get people's experience or expertise on how the 'right' way to go about this would be.

I set the switch to 'dump' so that no pressurisation will occur. I don't think any other actions are really needed. But I am curious about the 'correct' method to get heat into the cabin in this arrangement. If left on 'auto heat' the combustion heater seems to run from what I've seen. I can pull out the pressurised air knobs to close off some of the air through the intercoolers and admit hotter air into the cabin, but then it can easily run away and get a bit toasty. So the 'auto' part of 'auto heat' isn't doing a great job then.

Given that this is (presumably) something that pilots would do from time to time, how would they typically go about it? Would it just be easier to run pressurised, even with a small differential, and benefit from the environment system doing its thing?

I haven't read the manual in full yet, but have skimmed the relevant sections. I also looked up the POH but didn't find much there either.

@Mustang good question, I was also wondering about this.
I do as you suggested, keep the switch on dump, but leave incoming bleed air as normal, so air conditioning can do it's thing. I'd also love to hear what's the proper procedure :)

I would have imagined everything as normal, but pressure left at SL which will cover heights to 10000. I await more learned info on this one!
