Flight plan not loading in GNS 530/430
-
someone mentioned this on the MSFS forum
Pms50's dev shared this workaroundScorpionFilm422
As a workarround, if you have installed the GTN750, you can run it’s toolbar panel version, go to the flight plan page and select import button in the contextual menu. Then choose “import from ATC”. THis should load the ATC (world map) flight plan into both the GTN750 and the GNS530.
I hope you will find this useful

I don't have the GTN750, is it freeware? I don't really like GPSs in general, but they are necessary to fly in Europe now (they'll regret that eventually). But thanks for the information.
I'm pretty sure it was a byproduct of the fix Blacksquare provided for the SU14 issue. So it will like solve itself when SU15 is released, whenever that may be.
Reading the documentation for the 750, looks like the import function is only on the purchased version. Not going to buy a GPS I don't want to get functionality that should already be there.

yes this one is available at https://pms50.com/msfs/ in a light version which is free.
Note if that avionics isn't selected, you should be able to access it from the top bar menu, there, will be a new icon to display the gtn screen in a separate window

I will describe briefly the step to follow, cause it may not feel easy to find mentioned option/feature,
Click on this icon
it will open the GTN750 screen, since I can't screenshot that windows , I screened from GTN750 unit
then you should see the flight plan from the world map displayed on the GNS530/430

l m using the free version indeed
if I m not wrong, just checked it says "FPL import (File and SimBrief)" so the import from sim is fine ;) -
Testing it now. It shows a flightplan in the 750, but not in the 430. I clicked on Import, but I didn't get your last screen, loading flight plan from sim ATC.
https://gyazo.com/5f3db016992c730563e516391f524fbbIf I enable the 750, then I see the flight plan on the 430. Then if I go back to the KX155/430 combo, it's there. So it's a partial solution, and I really appreciate the information. If I don't need the GPS then I'll just fly without it until SU15, which should be fine for flying in the US, still plenty of Navaids.

give me a moment, loading the sim, I will try to reproduce, I did it with gns530 & 430 loaded and not 430 only.
edit : I confirm, the ability to get the message "import from atc" is available with the Gns530 running or at least it showed up once I switched KX155 to Gns530. and it wasn't available with the gns430 only. I guess WT code as it s limitation and to get 430 working and fpl sync it require a part of the 530 code, I thought I have heard something about that in past or maybe I m confusing with the ability to track gps in older version

I have this issue, I'm on SU15. I don't like the workaround, I don't want to load the PMS50 GTN if I'm not actually using it, because performance. My workaround is to enter the flight plan manually or to use the KLN-90B (I really love this unit, kudos to Falcon).
Anyway, do we have (or can we get) confirmation by the dev that this is a bug that will be addressed in an upcoming update?

I've covered this in a few other places, but this is a shortcoming of the GNS 530/430's hotswapping system. I've made several attempts to fix its code myself, and I've requested that Working Title look into it several times, as well. Unfortunately, I can't claim any progress on either end. I'm sure this is frustrating. Tt's not a feature I use myself, but it bothers me when the issues are out of my control to fix. I can try to make some headway with Working Title again next time I'm in contact with them, but that's where things stand right now, unfortunately.
I will add one more insight, just in case smarter people than I are reading this and want to attempt a solution. I found that the flight plan would be retained through any power-cycling of the GNS units if another native flightplan-linked interface was open, such as the PMS GTN. You can also try it with the MSFS VFR Map in the default C172.
VFR Map closed:
GNS Off -> GNS On -> Flightplan lost.VFR Map open:
GNS Off -> GNS On -> Flightplan retained. -
