Registration plate in cockpit becomes blank
-
I've noticed this with every aircraft in MSFS. On the inside of the cockpit, I use the same registration plate as every other aircraft in the sim. It's just one of those things that happens very rarely on a normal flight, but when you're a developer and constantly reloading the aircraft, it's something I see almost daily. I've always wondered what causes this too, so I will look at some of the underlying logic next time it happens.

I assume the aircraft add-ons I usually spend time with do not feature this kind of dynamic plate as I haven't witnessed the disappearing phenomenon before. Interestingly, however, I logged over 150 hours on your amazing King Air and over 100 hours on the Baron and never came across this either.
Last night I started a real-time ferry flight from EGSS to CYTZ via BIKF and CYFB, and was consciously watching what happens with the plate as I was aware of it often disappearing. The entire flight (3 legs, 15 hours including turnarounds) was carried out in one continuous flight sim session (a very stable simulator, and a very stable aircraft!). On the first 3:45 leg from EGSS to BIKF, the plate was there. On the second 5:10 long flight from BIKF to CYFB it was still there, too. So I thought it must be repaint (skin)-dependent. Then I stopped looking. I noticed after takeoff from CYFB that the plate was already blank. I wish I spotted the precise moment it disappeared, which could have suggested why it happened. It was night time and I turned the internal lights on and off many times during the session, with many engine startups and shutdowns.
I appreciate you looking into the mystery.

Interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to the "open flight log at shutdown" bug, since that would mimic the aircraft reloads that I've seen cause this problem. Like I said, I will see what I can see, but the interior registration plate JavaScript is dead simple, so I suspect this is a little deeper of a simulator issue.
