Updating FS Traffic

Hi
How will we be alerted of, and download updates to FSTraffic? I’ve seen no Check for updates button. Will it be like the main game that simply checks for updates automatically each time it’s launched?

@bpfonteyn You'll receive an email from us telling you that the update has been applied. You then head to your account and re-download.

@voice-of-reason what will happen to the custom plane database in the traffic manager (for FST to use FSLTL and AIG models) took me quite a while to set up. are those settings saved?

Any plans to tell us what has changed?

I wouldn't have known an update had been released if you hadn't mentioned it here as I too received no notification of its release. Same with the initial release of the product itself; I had signed up for release notification, but nothing. I need to brush up on my psychic powers I guess. :cat_face_with_tears_of_joy:
I wonder if we are advised to uninstall the previous version and then install the new one. Or can we simply install new over old?

We are live testing the latest update at the moment. As soon as it is ready we will notify customers as normal and add the changelog in support, Thanks for your patience.

NB - if you didn't receive our release email and it wasn't in spam you may well be unsubscribed - which means we can only send you 'transactional' email - ie order receipts. It is a moot point whether "there's an update" counts as transactional or marketing (not moot with us - with bulk email providers) so worth checking in case you have ever unsubscribed from our mail in the past.

Thank you for the information. I don't ever recall unsubscribing from your mail list in the past, but I guess it's possible. I'll go back to your site and see if I can subscribe again.

@bpfonteyn No, no need to remove the old version, it'll do that for you.
So far as I can see the main change appears to be an option to disable the FS Traffic in game menu, in order to stop crashes occurring. I can’t find a change log so I’m not sure what else has been fixed.

Changelog will be up once we have finished testing and we announce the update is ready.
I hope the bug that causes ATC to phonetically spell out callsigns rather than saying them has been fixed. It is quite annoying to listen too, especially when the callsign is long.
However, I am enjoying the product, and have not experienced the lack of traffic at destinations that others seem to be experiencing. Once it's been polished a little I am sure it's going to be a very popular addition to FS2020

I've never signed up to be a beta tester, from what Derek says it looks like they have released this update before they intended to!

Nothing so exciting. We switched it live because it is the best way to test whether it works for actual customers rather than the development team. We do it with all updates but it is rare that anyone would be looking in their account for that hour or so. Once an update or patch is given the thumbs up we update the changelog in Support and compile and send an eshot to all the buyers - see note above about unsubscribes and transactional email.
