I know, it's a silly title. I'm having trouble taking off in a crosswind.
I keep my right hand on the thrust levers in case I have to reject the take off and my left hand on the yoke. At low speed, I hold the yoke forward so the nose gear stays firmly on the runway. I also apply a bit of aileron in case of a cross wind.
In normal aircraft I would use the rudder pedals to keep the aircraft on the runway, since the pedals also steer the nose wheel a bit. However, this does not work in the Avro RJ / BAe 146. Therefore I need a third hand to use the tiller to keep the aircraft on the runway at low speeds, which I don't have. Can someone give any hints how to deal with this problem?

I know a big 747 operator who used to have PF with their hand on the tiller until 60kts then transfer it to the control column, although, of course that means for us in the sim that the control column has to go without input until quite a high speed. I agree with you this isn't ideal - the only option is not to ahve a separate rudder and nosewheel steering axis.

It should... is there a tablet setting for tiller axis that you have checked but shouldn't?

I've never not had the rudders control the nose wheel steering.

@jmarkows Yes, I'm aware that there is a setting to enable nose wheel steering in the tablet. But I don't want to enable it, since it is not realistic and I do have a good physical tiller. I was hoping to get some insight on how real pilots deal with this problem.

Thanks @rondon9897, very interesting that it is done like that. It goes quite against what is taught these days now, but it seems there is no other option if you cannot steer with the rudder pedals.
