146 or RJ?
-
Trying to decide if I should get the 146 or RJ. I have watched lots of videos on the differences between 146 and RJ, but I am still not sure which to get.
For those that have both, which one do you find to be more fun and challenging to fly and manage? Or, if you only have the 146, what do you like most about flying it?
I know definition of fun this is subjective, but I tend to stay away from modern airliners since the autopilot does most of the work and as a pilot I am just monitoring systems. I am leaning towards the 146 given that it is more hands-on and retro, but not sure if the automation of the RJ adds or takes away from the full experience. Yes, I get that they are two different experiences.
Finally, is the current 2020 version just being updated for MSFS 2024 or will there be a brand new build just for MSFS 2024? Given the summer sale, I am thinking if I should purchase the 2020 version and wait for the 2024 update if Just Flight is not creating a brand new version.
Thoughts?
Thank you. -
The bundle containing both seems to be the sensible option here.
Only if funds allow.
Otherwise from what you are saying above it looks like the 146 might be the best bet for you. Any updates for 2024 for either/both products will be free of charge there will be no extra outlay required for those.
Hope that helps.

@Bishop I have both and I really enjoy both of them, but I LOVE the 146. A bit more old-school, I like the extra work and attention it demands and it's hard to beat the vibe of that cockpit. I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival in 2024, because I finally removed 2020 last month.

Both are excellent, but I prefer the 146 because as it has been said, it's more hands on. I like the UNS-1 FMS and although the auto-throttle is nice in the RJ, the manual throttles in the 146 is something you need to keep an eye on constantly even during cruise when winds change. I'm looking forward to flying it again, as I have switched to 2024.
One more reason in favor of the 146: Although the RJ will get a pseudo cargo version soon, the 146 had a real cargo variant, so you are open to allot more options if you are the type that likes to stick to real-life operations.
