Engine Damage Log?
-
Hi Nick,
As an enhancement to your fleet of aircraft, would you consider adding some type of log that shows you all the ways you're damaging your engine?
I completely blew the left turbine in the Starship earlier because I had a mismatch between my hardware condition lever (off) and the virtual lever (run, somehow), which gave me the king of all hot starts. That one was easy to diagnose, and I got to watch it happen live on the tablet.
So after repairing both engines (the right just to keep the two in line), I successfully started and went on my way. A few minutes later in the climb, I see the left engine is still 100%, but a small chunk of the condition bar is missing. I can't think of what I did or exceeded in those few minutes, unless repair doesn't fully clear the residual heat from from the 1300 degrees I subjected it to a minute before.
I had a very minor RPM over speed on takeoff, they were briefly at 1710 RPM while throttling up, but I would have thought they would both degrade in that case.
I normally don't make a habit of damaging the engines, but I'd love a record of how and why in order to improve my technique.
