Am I correct in assuming that when I turn on the Autopilot, it should wait for me to select what mode I want to apply, eg. Nav, Hdg, Alt etc. Currently it selects Hdg automatically, which can be disrupting, if you want say, Nav mode & the heading is not created in the HSI.

This issue was in an old thread (version 3.8 in MSFS20), but I don't know the outcome. Could someone advise me, if my assumption is correct & that it's working currently for them, or the software is designed to immediately engage Heading Hold, when firing up the Autopilot.

I have a Bravo controller using the native Microsoft Control Configurator. Pending a response, I am making further tests, although having spent a lot of time already on it.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

This is intentional logic as the autopilot in the Warrior doesn't have any basic "Roll" mode, so there must be a lateral mode selected whenever the autopilot is engaged.

@DavidT The way I handle this is I sync my heading bug before I turn on the auto pilot. This way it does not make a dramatic turn. Then I will engage NAV mode.

Hello, Is there a way to prevent the autopilot to engage ALT HOLD mode when activated ? I believed this mode may be engaged only after pressing the clickspot. When I press it, ALT Mode cannot be disengaged...

Altitude Hold can be engaged by pressing the white circle at the top right corner of the autopilot panel, or by triggering an "Altitude Hold" control assignment. Altitude Hold can be disengaged via the same methods, or it will be disengaged when vertical speed mode is engaged, or when the autopilot is disengaged.

Thanks Mark. So, Altitude Hold is not selected when the autopilot is engaged. Though, I noticed that it's then difficult to adjust the pitch of the aircraft manually to keep the same altitude, withjout disengaging the autopilot. Or I have to play with the trim instead of the yoke. But I need probably some more practice. When I flew this airplane in the real life, I never switched on the autopilot because I did'nt have any trust in it !!

There was an old bug, opinions differed on whether or not it was in the WT GNS unit or the JustFlight planes, where engaging the AP seemed to turn on some sort of alt or pitch hold mode by default. The solution was to toggle the Alt Hold clickspot twice, which then released vertical control of the aircraft.

I've not extensively tried the plane since it was recently updated; could that be what you're experiencing?
