T/C Indication Incorrect?
-
I'm not super experienced with this beautiful bird just yet, but something I've noticed is that the T/C marker is rarely where I end up actually leveling off. Typically with a climb profile of 250/280/.60 I pass it by 20+ miles. Am I doing something wrong, is this a bug, or is it just an imprecise advisory marker that more or less puts you in the ballpark?

The T/C marker on the ND is calculated based on data entered into the FMS. So when data is entered into the RTE and PERF INIT pages during the pre-flight, the FMS will calculate where it thinks the T/C will be. Depending on how the climb is flown, there may be discrepancies between the calculated T/C and the actual T/C. For instance, levelling off at intermediate altitudes will cause the actual T/C to be further into the flight plan compared to the calculated T/C.
The calculated T/C is only updated whenever something is executed in the FMS, whereas the ND green arc is updated constantly based on the aircraft's present position and performance, so the latter will always be more accurate.
However, the accuracy of the calculated T/C point is something we have logged on our internal bugs/feature request tracker as it is something we would like to slightly improve the accuracy of in future updates.

Excellent, kind of what I figured. Thanks for the insight, Mark :)
