VNAV Advisory Information?
-
I've been looking for information on the VNAV page on the FMS and the green arc, but the manual doesn't seem to cover this.
In descent, the VNAV page will provide me with a TOD point and the next constraint, but does not include information on the vertical speed required to comply with the constraint. I know that -2000fpm is a good starting point, but there's no reference available for actual.
In the 146, the VNAV page calculates and updates a vertical speed required figure. In the RJ, it appears that the only vertical guidance is the green arc on the navigation display, but that is only available if the autopilot is on. If hand-flying, there's no guidance at all.
Is this correct, or am I missing something?
Thanks for your help. -
You are correct. The RJ displays no VNAV guidance on the PFD/ND, other than during a VNAV Approach. In the real aircraft, pilots would typically begin their descents based on ATC instructions and would then calculate the vertical speed required either via their own calculations or using the green arc on the ND.
We have the following FAQs covering VNAV in the RJ which may be useful:
Hope that helps.
